Halloween Party #3

This party concluded our very long and drawn out Halloween 2009. After trick-or-treating, many of our neighbors gathered across the street from our house for a Halloween Party. The party was filled with food, fun, tents, apple bobbing, and a bonfire. The bonfire wasn't really needed considering that it was 90 degrees outside with 100% humidity; however, we had it so the kids could roast marshmallows. There was a food tent alongside a TV tent where the men stayed for most of the night watching football. The children were soaked after trick-or-treating and had to shed their costumes and change clothes. It was so warm outside that I had to pull out summer clothes and sandals for Kamdyn. They spent most of the night running around and playing in the front yard. I love good family fun, but what I loved most about that night was walking across the street to my house, falling into bed, and getting some much needed rest as I bid farewell to this year's Halloween. It was finally OVER!! :) I took down our Halloween decorations as soon as we got up on Sunday morning. Bring on Christmas!!! I'm ready......

After many attempts to get the apple with her mouth, she gave up! She reached in and got the apple that she wanted and she ate it!

Trick-or-Treat

The children in our neighborhood are spoiled and are driven around the neighborhood on a hayride from house to house. When I was a kid, I remember walking all over the place to get candy! Our kids tried to get back on the hayride between houses that were only a few feet apart. We had to remind them that their feet could carry them from house to house! :)

They didn't let the rain stop them from collecting lots of candy. The rain did delay their trick-or-treating about an hour, but it definitely did not stop them. They had tons of fun! We are extremely lucky to live in such a great neighborhood with awesome neighbors!

Jack-o-Lantern Jubilee

The Jack-o-Lantern Jubilee is a yearly event in North Augusta; however, this year they moved it from downtown to one of our neighboring river front communities, Hammonds Ferry. We loaded up two golf carts from our neighborhood and ventured over to Hammonds Ferry to join in the fun festivities. There were vendors selling everything from children's handmade clothing and hairbows to crafts, food, etc. Kamdyn's favorite booth was the Sand Art booth. She enjoyed filling her Strawberry Shortcake bottle with different colored sand. There were jumping castles for the kids and a stage filled with entertainment. It was family fun-filled event. Aside from the damp, humid, warm weather, it was great!

We ran into one of Kamdyn's classmates while in the jumping castle.

Halloween Party #2

We were invited to a child/adult Halloween Party on Friday night. Since we decided not to sit in the rain again for another Clemson football game, we were home for ALL of the Halloween festivities. The party was at Hi Brass Hunt Club and was a lot of fun. Some of our neighbors helped throw the party and we were glad that we were able to go! Halloween is STILL not over.....

It took 3 different hayrides for all of the children to have a turn. There were A LOT of kids there!

Kamdyn got upset when one of the costume contestants walked toward her in his Scream mask that squirted blood down it. She was NOT happy!


She won the costume contest out of all of the girls there. There had to be 25-30 kids there. She was the youngest, which kind of made it easy for the judges. :) (By the way, she has the bow on with the head band b/c she wouldn't keep the head band on her head!)

Kamdyn is still obsessed with us having another baby which means that she is also obsessed with "real" babies. She had the best time with this precious little girl, Sutton. Kamdyn will be such a great big sister! We're still working on her Daddy!!

Kamdyn's favorite neighborhood big girls, Grace (Cowgirl) and Emily (Cleopatra). They are so sweet to Kamdyn and always take care of her so that she can join in on all of the fun with the big kids!

Setting the Table

With our busy schedules it is rare that all of us sit down to dinner all at one time. We do try to make Thursday nights our family night where we actually sit at the table, sometimes the bar, and have dinner together. Last week Richard took the day off to go fishing. Lucky for us we got to have a delicious fish dinner. I'm not being funny either. It really was great!

Kamdyn wanted to set the table for us. This is what we got and I LOVE it!

Place mats all pushed to the other end of the table. Forks scattered all over the table. Napkins on the floor while she tries to separate some of them.


My napkin is all crumpled up on the table.


She even thought to help decorate the table with her pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.

Class Party #2 and Halloween Carnival #2

Kamdyn got to dress up for her dance class on Wednesday night. I didn't get any pictures at dance; however, Georgia's church carnival was after dance and I did remember to get a few pictures of her there. I felt horrible on Wednesday night (sinus yuck), but pressed on like any good Mother does for her child, and took her to dance and all the way back to Georgia's church for the carnival. Georgia let Kamdyn spend the night with her so we didn't have to worry about our morning routine on Thursday. Kamdyn had a blast that night and showed no signs of wishing Halloween away........unlike her Mom! :) I don't ever remember this many Halloween festivities leading up to Halloween when I was a child. Is Halloween 2009 ever going to end?

What Else is New?

Kamdyn continues to "love" her arm every time that she gets sleepy or in a zone. She has done this since she was a tiny baby. It is so sweet to watch, but I can't help but wonder how much longer she will do this? Will she be made fun of in Kindergarten because she still "loves" her precious arm when she is tired?

I surprised them with this photo one night before bedtime. Kamdyn was "loving" her arm and snuggling with Daddy.


Daddy decided to "love" Kamdyn's other arm. You can tell she thought this was funny, but not funny enough to quit "loving" her arm.

What's She Up to These Days?

Kamdyn enjoys any kind of "brain" challenge. Here lately her challenge has been two jigsaw puzzles that she got for Christmas last year. The puzzles have 24 puzzle pieces and they take a lot of patience to find just the right pieces. She has just now gotten in to them. At first she would get kind of frustrated when attempting to put these puzzles together; however, after sitting down with me one afternoon, she has mastered the puzzles herself. I am amazed at how she processes information and how sharp her memory is. She can now put both the "Brown Bear" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" puzzles together all by herself. She is very proud of her accomplishment and puts both of them together at least once a day.

Pumpkin Patch

Kamdyn's 3K class went to the Pumpkin Patch last Tuesday. Unfortunately, the clouds dumped inches of rain that day so they had to move the Pumpkin Patch inside. Richard, nor I, could go on the field trip that day. Georgia had already said that she would be glad to take Kamdyn. Nanny decided to surprise Kamdyn. She came down on Monday night. She spent the night with us and went with Kamdyn and Georgia to the Pumpkin Patch on Tuesday. We loved having her here! I hated that it rained, but Kamdyn truly loved having both Georgia and Nanny to herself for several hours. Truthfully, I think she would have chosen Georgia and Nanny over Richard and me anyway.
