1st Grade Goes to the Zoo

I took the day off and headed to the Riverbanks Zoo with the entire 1st grade.  It was kind of fun to just be a Mommy instead of a teacher.  The mommy hat only stayed on for a second though.  Many of the children were in my class in previous years so I did have to pull out my teacher hat a lot more than anticipated.  Once a teacher, always a teacher!  Kamdyn loved having me there.  She was so sweet one of the times that I took her to the bathroom. She looked up at me and said, "Thank you, Mommy, for coming on my field trip today and helping with my class."  She continues to have the sweetest little disposition.  She is always so good about letting others know how much she appreciates them.  So often I am so busy with my own class that I do not get to be there for her.

I was in charge of 5 little first graders all day.  Luckily, they were really good.  It was a chilly day, but a pretty nice day for late November.

Happy Thanksgiving

We packed up the circus (this is what we lovingly refer to our family of four when we travel) and headed to the Upstate for Thanksgiving.  First stop - Nanny and Pop Pop's.  Nanny prepared a delicious meal as always.  Kamdyn was feverish and wasn't 100%.  She put on her happy face and tried her best to enjoy the day.  Prior to dinner, each of us said one thing that we were most thankful for (for the grammar police out there, I know I'm not supposed to end a sentence with a preposition.).  I continue to be so thankful for my family and our many blessings.  We certainly have our moments, but I wouldn't change a single thing even if I could.

Kamdyn insisted on having the turkey leg!

Karcie wasn't very interested in staying in her high chair.  Nanny held her instead.

We tried to take a few photos in their cute outfits from The Smocked Shop!  Check us out if you haven't already www.thesmockedshop.com and be sure to LIKE us on Facebook!

Kamdyn had fever red cheeks and Karcie wouldn't let go of pappy.

We tried a family photo.

This sums up our personalities for the day.

Karcie and Richard enjoyed some snuggle while Mommy enjoyed an after Thanksgiving meal N-A-P!  For a while, that word had left my vocabulary.

Clemson/Carolina Game

Even though our morning started out at Urgent Care with Kamdyn, it ended up being a pretty fun day despite our loss.  We always have a great time tailgating with our friends.  This was a particularly long tailgate since the game didn't start until 7:30.  There was beer pong, corn hole, pumpkin carving (a few weeks late), lots of food, and fun!  It's hard to believe that football season is already over!

Lee Brice

The Friday night before the Clemson/Carolina game we saw Lee Brice at Little John.  We love Lee Brice!  We have seen him in concert three times now.  This particular week we saw him twice!  He was actually on the Clemson football team years ago.  He had a nice surprise for Tiger fans at the end of his show.  The Tiger Band, Rally Cats, and cheerleaders made an appearance during during his Orange Empire song.  It was pretty cool and got all of us really excited about the game.  Too bad our Tigers didn't get a "W" the next day.  :(  We had a great time with some of our favorite Clemson friends.

Poor Kamdyn

The day before we were to leave to visit family for Thanksgiving, Kamdyn wasn't feeling well.  She stayed on the couch all day.  She didn't have a fever for most of the day, but she never moved off of the couch.  I took her temp in the afternoon and discovered that it was 101.6.  She's not sick often and if she has a fever, I know something is up.  I called the doctor immediately and took her in.  To my surprise, she was diagnosed with bronchial pneumonia.  She hadn't been coughing, nor had she shown any other symptoms.  We left with a breathing machine, steroids, and an antibiotic.  This is our sweet girl with her first ever breathing treatment.  She looked so pitiful!

The doctor said she would be fine to travel.  After three days, she still wasn't doing better so off to urgent care we went.  We learned that she had also developed a sinus infection, but her breathing was much better.  It was an eventful Thanksgiving for our sweet girl.  I hope we avoid this for a long time!

Mischievious Karcie

She looks so precious and sweet in her bed sleeping.  And, she is!!  You would never guess that minutes before she was "caught" on the stairs.  I try to discipline her.  Richard says I've forgotten how to be a Mommy because I seem to let Karcie get away with a lot more than I ever did with Kamdyn.  Karcie just tickles me.  Look at this face!  It's hard to fuss at her when you come around the corner and find SMILEY looking right back at you.  :) Most of the photos are blurry because she isn't still for a second. I love this girl and her mischievously perfect personality!  She is a little Richard through and through!

Guitar Pull

Richard surprised me with Guitar Pull tickets this year.  We have tried to get tickets to this show every year since we have lived in Augusta, but have been unsuccessful.  It is a charity event.  The country music participants are all on the stage at once.  They take turns singing their hits one at a time.  One word - AWESOME!  We loved it and I am so glad that we finally go to go.  This year's line-up included Brantley Gilbert, Laren Alaina, Lee Brice, Little Big Town, Luke Bryan, and Billy Currington.  A big thanks to Georgia for keeping our girls for us so that we could go!
