Let me preface this post by saying that "It's Long" and it has lots of photos! This is my scrapbook, plain and simple. My sweet husband orders a blog book for me each year so that we have a hard copy to go along with our online blog just in case something should ever happen to Blogger and our blog. (Read: nervous breakdown!) We took over 200 photos to document this momentous occasional. I think this is partly because Karcie is Baby #2. We haven't been quite as good at taking daily photos of her. I haven't taken her to Fitz-Symms like I did Kamdyn. Her baby book isn't up-to-date (it's on my LONG summer list). Poor thing has to roll with the punches around here. Thankfully, she has done just that and is good at it!
So here goes......
I decided on an owl theme after pondering for months. A cute owl tutu, shirt, bloomers, and hat came across one of my favorite FB stores and I knew that this had to be Karcie's first birthday theme. Also, because Karcie truly is a "hoot!" I tried not to overdo it, but I know that Richard is rolling his eyes as he reads. I love to plan a party and I do tend to get carried away. This time, I tried not to break the bank...a.k.a., Richard! I did better than I have in the past. The invites, banner, mason jar decorations, etc., were all printables that I purchased online. I love putting everything together!
Karcie enjoyed her little party. Since she doesn't have any one-year-old friends who live close by, we invited our sweet little family. Some weren't able to come. We missed them, but had a great time never the less! There is always next year.....

| The decor. |
| This was before I added the cake to the table. It was also before I added the pink lemonade to the punch bowl and the watermelon to the other bowl. And, of course, I forgot to take a photo once I did finally add all of those things! |
| The tables was adorned with precious photos of sweet Karcie from each month of her life including her first day home. |
| Since there weren't any children coming, I didn't have to worry about party favors for them. Instead, I wanted to have something small for the grown-ups. I purchased these mini personalized hand sanitizers on Etsy. They were perfect and she will create a design for just about any theme. |
| The Happy Birthday sign. Not a good photo with the flash. |
| Mini Mason Jars for drinking our pink lemonade. |
| Karcie's "Going Home" photo! |
| The decorate high chair. |
| The birthday girl who is looking tu-tu cute! |
| Mama Lucy was trying to teach Karcie to say, "I one!" |
| I guess Karcie thought it was funny! |
| Karcie had plenty of people to walk her. She never misses an opportunity to grab someone's finger and take off. And, you better not tell her "NO!" She will not have it! |
| Love this little tu-tu fanny! |
| She is definitely her Daddy's child! |
| I love how Kamdyn and Karcie both have their foot in the middle of the hula hoop! |
| I decided against a tiered cake this time. I kind of shocked myself with this, but I just loved creating this little cake so much! |
| Karcie's smash cake! |
| Kamdyn got a present from Ms. Denise. She is so thoughtful!! |
| Hanging out with Nanny! |
| She got Nanny's hand and was ready to walk! |
| Her precious birthday hat which didn't remain on her head. She will not have anything on her head including hairbows which breaks my heart! |
| I knew that Karcie's first experience with cake would be different from Kamdyn's. |
| And, it was! She helped herself immediately! |
| She loved this and the thought of getting messy made her one happy little girl! |
| Kamdyn still isn't fond of getting messy. She was trying to micro manage Karcie's birthday cake eating. I wonder who she gets that from??? Not her Type A Mommy! |
| She is LOVING this! |
| She even tried to attack Kamdyn with her dirty hand! This photo cracks me up! |
| She had done just about all that she was going to do. When she was finished she was ready to get that hand cleaned! It's kind of funny that she only put one hand in it. |
| Time for presents! |
| She got some really sweet things from everyone. We are so thankful to have such wonderful friends and family who are always here for us when we need them or ask them to be! |
| Ruthie couldn't come, but she did send Karcie a new swing to be added to the swing set. Richard and Uncle Jim were hard at work. This wasn't nearly as difficult as putting together the ENTIRE swing set. |
| Time for a test drive! |
| The sweetest 6 year old and big sister that I know! |
| I love that my new camera can camera such great action shots! |
| I'm not sure who was more amazed that the flip-flop flew off, Kamdyn or Aunt Kathy? |
| Karcie was tuckered out. She almost fell asleep in the swing. |
| Sweet Mama Lucy! |
| My sweet love! |
| Family Time! |
| Mommy time! |
| She wasn't really into Mommy time. :( |
| Kamdyn joined in to try to get a smile out of Karcie. |
| Karcie just wanted to be left alone! |
| So big sister was off to swing again! |
| Kamdyn and Uncle Jim came back in to play Mouse Trap and Candyland. Did you ever figure out what the cheese was for, Uncle Jim? :) |
| Karcie wiggled out of one of her bows. |
| Luckily, they are supposed to come off. |
| We love you sweet girl! You have stolen our hearts all over again. Being your Mommy and Daddy has added such joy to every one of our days. It's hard to believe that you are one!! |
| Daddy was behind the camera for much of the day! He did such a great job! I am pretty sure I micro managed the picture taking. :) Thankfully, he is such a good listener during my moments of craziness. |
