Sledding Videos

SO Much Fun Sledding in the Snow!!  We must have walked the sleds back up the hill a million times.  They were EXHAUSTED at bedtime that night!!

LAST Snow Day (hopefully)!

It started sleeting on Wednesday night around 8:00.  It changed over quickly to snow.  It snowed until about 3:00 AM and then changed to rain.....a lot of rain.  We woke up to a yard full of snow/ice which quickly turned to slush!  It was fun though.  It was almost too wet for a snowman, but these three little musketeers managed to build one.  They were super excited to decorate "Snowy" with scarf, hat, eyes, nose, and mouth.

Karcie named him Snowy and was heard Thursday morning before the rest of us awoke, singing a song to Snowy.  She told Snowy how she didn't want him to melt and how much she loved him!  It was one of the funniest things I've heard.  She looks outside at random times to see how much he has melted.  I really think that she may cry when he is officially gone.

Our neighbors came out about the time that the snowman was  complete.  Kamdyn came inside to warm up and Karcie kept playing.  FYI-we had ALL waterproof clothes except for gloves.  Those patties HAD to be frozen blocks of ice, but she did not care.  She kept playing.  All. Day. Long.  While Kam was warming up by the fire, I was making dinner for Sydney's family.  Her Mom had surgery so I wanted to do something nice to help them out since they have been so great to us.  After their lasagna was in the crock pot, we joined the neighbors and had a ton of fun sledding down their hill to their backyard.  I wish we would have thought of that hill last week when everything was a solid sheet of ice.  It would have been AWESOME!!

We ended the afternoon by having the kids come over to our house to watch Big Hero 6 and enjoy popcorn and chocolate chip cookies.  The Moms had some wine and whine time!  ;)  It was a fun end to two weeks of snowy weather.  I hope it doesn't return again until next year.  Peace Out Snow and Good Riddance Winter!  I'm ready for Spring, flip flops, the pool, and the lake!!

Karcie was a little grouch.  She didn't want to be in the photo!

She told me "no" and turned her back to play with the tree.

Richard convinced her to have her photo taken with Snowy by telling her that she wouldn't be able to remember what Snowy looked like once he melted if she didn't have her picture taken with him.

And this was the best that she could do....hands up with no smile!

This one cooperated!

Karcie walked away.

It's a pretty good snowman if you ask me!

Checking him out.

Finishing touches.

And Karcie found Ms. Colleen's snow shovel.  She would rather shovel snow than have her photo taken with the snowman.

Funny girl!

Kamdyn and Karcie rode the sled almost all the way up the slide!!

We laughed SO hard!!

Karcie couldn't figure out how to get up!

We got about 3.5-4" total.

I convinced her to take a selfie with me!

Take 2!

Some of the sweetest kiddos I know....Cade, Kamdyn, Campbell, Karcie, and Tommy.

After a LONG day of snow and sledding, these girls were pooped!  They needed some snuggle time with Daddy.  He looks amused....as always.

Tuesday Snow Day!

So..... Kamdyn went to school on Monday.  It was her first full day since the last week in January.  We were tracked out for 2.5 weeks before this "Snow-Pocalypse" occurred.  2.5 weeks plus another 2 weeks equals 4.5 weeks without school!!  They were calling for snow on Tuesday morning without any real accumulation. School was still on and we were expecting to go all day or maybe a two hour delay.  The buses left to pick up students at 6 AM and quickly took them back after realizing that the roads were already icy.  By 6:30 AM on Tuesday, school had been cancelled AGAIN!  Yay!!  It really snowed all day long and into the evening on Tuesday.  It was pretty and the girls had just enough to play in.  It was the soft, white, fluffy snow!

I sent them outside to play for a while and snapped a few photos.  Karcie couldn't wait to make a snow angel!  Kamdyn thought it was the funniest thing when Karcie plopped on the ground!  They tried to make a small snowman, but the snow was just too dry. (There would be more for building snowmen later in the week!)

After Round 1 they came back inside.  We dried their clothes.  They sat by the fire and had hot chocolate.  My dryer really got a lot of use the past two weeks with drying all of these wet snow clothes!!  The girls absolutely love playing outside in it, so it truly is worth it!!

Jazzercise was my sanity during these days.  I'm not a good at staying inside and doing nothing.  I can handle a day or two, but then I really start to go crazy.  Luckily, Jazzercise was held at night and I stayed for two classes again!  The girls played outside almost the entire time I was gone with Richard watching from the screened porch.  He said they had the best time!  I came home to dinner cooking, a basket full of wet snow clothes, and two adorable little girls dressed in their PJ's.
Happy wife = Happy life!!

Richard and I knew that more snow was on the way.  School was cancelled for Wednesday because of black ice possibilities that morning.  Wednesday night was supposed to be the BIG storm!  He and I pulled out the wine and bourbon.  We knew school was a bust for the rest of the week!  (I think I forgot to mention that Richard has also been working at home during these two snow weeks.)  It's been a FUN and FULL HOUSE!!

SNOW ANGEL!!

Silly Girls all bundled up with snow falling!!

Karcie thinks the slide goes much faster when it's snowing!

Much needed!!

Karcie pretending her "sweeps" were crutches!  (see the snow clothes basket in the corner of the photo!)

I sure do love this girl and can't believe she will be 9 YEARS OLD IN ONE MONTH!!

Getting OUT of the House!

School was cancelled again on Friday even though most of the snow and ice were gone.  The temps were still way below freezing which left patchy spots on the roads which equaled no buses on the roads starting at 6:00 AM.

By Friday, we were all itching to get out.  We scheduled an Art Camp for the big girls.  Colleen and I took the little kids out for lunch.  While I drove to Cary to get the big girls, Colleen let Karcie hang out at their house and make a delicious dirt with worms dessert!!

We all felt much more normal after getting out of the house.  We were ready for our "normal" school week that was sure to come starting Monday!!  We were in for a surprise.....two of them!!

Karcie was giving me her best poses!!

It takes many attempts to get one photo.....this is what Google+ loves to give me!!

MORE SNOW and Friends!!

I was going stir crazy with school being cancelled day after day and no morning Jazzercise classes.  They decided to have Jazzercise one evening at both 4:30 and 5:30 so I decided to go and take BOTH  classes.  Richard was home to watch the girls, but they were hanging out with the neighbors.  We sure do love our neighbors and neighborhood!!  Kamdyn was at Sydney's house and Karcie was playing with Campbell.  More snow fell late that evening.  I watched it snow the entire two hours that I Jazzercised.  When we left the streets and our cars were once again covered in snow.  SOOOO, that meant NO SCHOOL again for the next day!!

Stacey, Syd's Mom, sent this photo of the girls playing in the snow as it was falling!  The other storm happened during the night while they were sleeping!

Colleen sent me this photo of Karcie and Campbell playing "baby."  Karcie was the baby and she was stuffed inside the toy Pack n Play!

Games and Hot Chocolate

We enjoyed several days of being on lock down.  A few days being stuck inside are fun!!  But, two weeks gets to be a bit much with no school and no place to go!!

We filled our time with games by the fire and hot chocolate.  Richard served hot chocolate to me in this mug while I was working upstairs.  Hmmmm!!  Think he was trying to tell me something???
FYI-this mug was purchased for him!!

Fibber!!

This really is true, but I often do not get my way so I've learned to deal!!  :)

And this is exactly what I want to do when I don't get my way.  Thankfully, I only do this on the inside!!  ;)

SNOW/ICE Day in NC (First Storm)

Last week, winter really came on STRONG here in North Carolina!!  The kids got out of school early on Monday to prepare for the Snow/Ice storm that was to start that afternoon into Tuesday night.  We woke up to streets that were literal sheets of ice.  I had never seen that before!!  Cars didn't even break the ice when they drove over the icy road.  Crazy!!  We literally needed ice skates or skis to get down the street.  It was kind of funny trying to walk up and down the hills.  We found that walking in the grass was much easier!

We got out the sleds and the entire neighborhood was out and about.  It was pretty fun!!  We have one GINORMOUS hill on the other side of our neighborhood.  Sadly, our golf cart is now at the lake so we had to walk  skate to the other side.  Richard took at turn first down the big hill and then I attempted.  I have to admit, sledding on ice is much scarier than snow.  I was a wee bit scared.  Karcie went down with Richard.  Kamdyn finally got up the courage to go once, but once was it.  She said she didn't like it.  It's weird not having any control of the sled.  We made the most of our snow/ice day and had no idea at that moment that school would be cancelled the entire rest of the week AND that two other Snow Storms were on their way to our area!!

Luckily, I found ski bibs on sale at Target about a month prior.  I went ahead and bought both of the girls one, thinking that this would mean that we were destined to NOT get any snow since I was prepared with snow clothes.  We certainly got our money's worth during these two weeks!!

Sweet face!!

Richard and Kamdyn sliding up the road to sled.

Kamdyn first!

Karcie sledding down the driveway.

Pretty much every surface was perfect for sledding.  It didn't need to be much of a hill!

My precious girls!!

Richard walking up from the "BIG" hill!

There they go!!

Me and the big girl!

Kamdyn walking back up the big hill.  She was not amused!!

This smaller hill was much more Karcie's speed!

WEEE!!

Then we stopped at Sydney's house.  Who needs a sled?  Karcie just slid down the driveway on her behind!!

Then, she tried the sled on her belly!
Kamdyn, Sydney, and Morgan sledding at Sydney's house.  Sweet friends!!

Morgan sliding in our yard.

The girls all came to our house and play for a while in the backyard.

I got out the sand toys.  They had a blast!!  They are always so sweet and patient to include Karcie.

Super fun day!!
