Look What Kamdyn Can Do!

Kamdyn completed her first chapter book this week and we are so proud of her!  She walked around for two days reading her book aloud.  What impressed me most was that she was reading this book silently one day in the car and I thought she was asleep.  It is difficult for children at this age to read and comprehend without reading aloud.  This little girl continues to amaze us everyday!  I can't believe that she will start Kindergarten in one week.  She is more than ready!

Karcie is TWO MONTHS OLD!

Karcie turned two months old on Wednesday, July 27th!  It is so hard to believe!  Poor thing had a doctor's appointment that day and we finally got to see Dr. Foushee.  She had to get three shots and it broke Mommy's heart and sister's, too!  Karcie was a trooper though.  She cried right when she got the shots, but stopped as soon as I picked her up and gave her some love.

  Here are a few things about Karcie at TWO months!

• Weight - 13.2 pounds 90th %!  (she is a big girl!)
• Length - 23.5 inches 80th % 
• She still HAS to be swaddled tight at night in order for anyone to sleep!
• She is sleeping through the night for the most part....her longest to date is 8:00-6:45!  If she does wake up it is around 3:00 AM.
• She has rolled to her side a few times and rolled back to her back.
• She sleeps in her swing during the day for naps.
• She smiles and "talks" to us all of the time.
• She still enjoys her paci.
• She is still breastfed, but will take a bottle with formula.

We had a fabulous "grown-up" weekend at the Black River in Georgetown.  We missed a few of our "usual" folks, but we had a good time with our happy little group of 8!  Until next year......

Newborn Session

She Changed Her Mind!

Remember when I said that Karcie hated her swing?  Well, it seems that she has had a change of heart.  Now she loves to be lulled to sleep during the day by the swing and the lullabies that it plays.  Thank goodness for Mommy, Daddy, and Big Sister!  Karcie works like a clock especially during the day!  I knew I could get her on a routine quickly!!  She eats, talks and plays for a while, takes a nap in her swing, and repeats the process throughout the day.  She is such an easy baby!  She has stolen our hearts with her BIG toothless grins and we couldn't be happier.  Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, that one of her favorite places for BM's (we lovingly refer to these as blow-outs!) is her swing.  It seems as if I am cleaning the swing cover daily!!  We love you sweet Karcie!

Shopping Woes

I had to write this down before I forgot.....

Kamdyn, Karcie, and I went to Wal-Mart this morning to buy groceries for our yearly trip to The Black River with friends.  I volunteered to get the food since I do not work in the summer.  (Let me rephrase, I work as a full-time now Mommy-of-two during the summer, but I do not have a paying job in the summer.)  Anyway, I was a little hesitant to take Karcie since our last shopping adventure to Target was cut short due to her ear piercing screams the entire time we were there.  She was silent as soon as we got in the car! Go figure!  This time she did excellent.  Kamdyn is always pretty good after the first protests of, "I hate shopping!"  "Do I have to go?" And her infamous pleas...."Can we get this?  Can we PLEASE get this?"  She loves junk food and would take one of everything sweet if I allowed.  But, if we bring it home I end up eating it, too. 

Just as we were backing into the garage and I was about to declare victory, Kamdyn gets her sucker stuck in her hair.......ALL twisted in her hair!  She starts screaming because she can't get it out.  I am attempting to tote all of the groceries up, what seems like five million stairs, to our house as she begins to yell.  I sit the 10 bags that I have lined up both of my arms back inside my car to yank the sucker out of her hair.  As I am pulling the sucker and wishing to cover my ears from her screams the dish washing detergent falls out of the back of the car onto the lid and busts.  Luckily, it didn't go EVERYWHERE, but the lid busted and it splattered on Kamdyn and on me.  As only the story could go, I had on my favorite denim capris and Kamdyn had on her favorite blue fish outfit.  Both of them now have white bleach spots all over them!   UGH!!

Summer Fun

After the boat races this past Saturday, we went to visit some friends in Evans.  I drove Richard, Kamdyn, Karcie, Bart, and Mike to the party.  They were in no shape for driving after a long day watching the boat races.  Bart and Mike had to ride in the very cramped 3rd row seat in my car.  Not only did they have to sit back there, but they had to climb over the seat from the back because the girls were already in their car seats.  It was a sight to see!  Sadly, I do not have any photos of this.  It was hilarious!  We had a great time celebrating Eden's 3rd birthday while also enjoying some adult time.

Kamdyn was so brave on the water slide and we were so surprised!  She is really getting brave in her "old" age!

My husband is awesome!  He can fix and/or do just about any kind of home improvement project.  And while the mess while he is completing a project is atrocious, the end product is always worth it!  I love our new glass tile back-splash!  Thank you, sweet!

The Faces of Karcie

Karcie has really started smiling, oohing, and ahhing in the past couple of weeks.  I LOVE when she gives me that huge grin and a loud OOH when I go to her crib in the mornings.  She is precious!!  Speaking of crib, our little girl has been in her crib for over two weeks now.  She is sleeping through the night!  WOO HOO!  The longest so far has been from 8:00-6:30.  Awesome for me!!

Kamdyn had a playdate with Emma Kate who will be in her Kindergarten class this year.  We met at Chic-fil-A and the girls had a great time.  At least Kamdyn will have one friend at her new school!! 

Beach Trip

We decided at the last minute the Wednesday after 4th of July to go to the beach for a few days.  Ruthie was able to reserve a beautiful house for us.  Thank you, Ruthie!  We were hesitant to take Karcie, but we didn't want Kamdyn to miss out completely on the beach this year so we decided to go for it and hope for the best.  Karcie did great and Kamdyn had such a good  time.  We are already making plans for next year's week long beach trip!  Karcie will be walking and all over the place by then!

She did great!  In fact, she slept the entire time.

Kamdyn enjoyed the water slide again this year, but had to warm up to it again.  First, Daddy had to go with her.

Then, he had to catch her.  Next, she was going down on her own.  By the end of the week, she was going down on her own without swimmies!  :)

Nanny didn't babysit the entire time.  She had a day to herself.  She went to Savannah to explore and even had lunch at Paula Deen's Restaurant.

We enjoyed the beach for one day when we were able to have a babysitter for Karcie.  Ruthie kept Karcie for us.  Thank you so much!!

I had to force a photo shoot with Mommy on the last night to prove that I was actually at the beach!  I am always so busy taking photos that I rarely get to be in them!  :)  I love my sweet Kamdyn!  She looks so grown up!

Kamdyn spent the night with Ruthie our last night.  So, Richard, Karcie and I had to take a family photo without Kamdyn.  We had such a great time!  I can't wait until we get to enjoy a week long vacation next year with a toddler and 6 year old!  :)

We left the beach on my birthday.  We picked Kamdyn up at Ruthie's on our way home.  They had gotten up early to complete this masterpiece for me on the driveway at Ruthie's.  I was so surprised to see it as we drove in!  So sweet and thoughful!  Thank you, Ruthie and Kamdyn!
