Trouble with a Capital T

Karcie has been really interested in playing games lately.  She's finally able to understand them and, most importantly, waits for her turn now!  We got out the game of Trouble the other day...no pun intended.  I figured she could practice recognizing the numbers 1-6 while we played.  And, wouldn't you know, she beat me the very first time!

A game of Trouble for our little Trouble!  You can see it in her eyes and I love every mischievous bone in her body!!

Weekend at the Lake with Friends

Eric and Courtney come to visit us at the lake.  Eric loves boats and the water almost as much as Richard. They are going to have their first baby at the end of November.  We were trying to squeeze in a weekend with them before their little peanut arrives.  We had the best time and hope they will come back again soon....even after their sweet girl arrives!!

Karcie refused to open her eyes....whatever, Karcie!

Floating in the middle of the lake!

Sunset cruise!

Eric got a fish!!

His first striper!

I see a theme here from the Captain!

Gorgeous lake view!

See the dot in the right of the lake?  Richard took the girls out on the jet ski into the middle of our cove.  They had the best time jumping off of the jet ski.  I watched from the porch and loved every second of my view!

Back to School and Back to Activities

The start of a new school year also means the start of all of our after school activities.  Richard was out-of-town the first week of school.  Karcie had to tag along to Kamdyn's dance with us.  Kamdyn is taking ballet and modern this year.  Each are an hour long with a 30 minute break in between classes.  It's a LONG 2.5 hours, but it's well worth it to me to not have to go back an additional evening.

Karcie has dance on Tuesday afternoons from 2-3.  We promptly leave dance to arrive at the carpool line at Kamdyn's school at 3:20.  We wait in line for about 30 minutes.  Then, we drive to piano and sit for another 30 minutes.  Karcie and I play a lot of Old Maid in the car.  I am happy to see Wednesday arrive because our activities are over for the week!!

Our tiniest dancer!!

2nd Day of School!

This was at the end of the 2nd day......Kamdyn and Campbell dressed alike on Kamdyn's 2nd day of school and Campbell's first day of Kindergarten.  This is what happens when the Moms are neighbors, shop at the same stores, and one happens to have a monogram machine!!

Kamdyn saw Campbell at lunch and they were both super excited to see each other.  Kamdyn said that a teacher walked up to her and said, "Is that your little sister?"  Kamdyn said, "No, but she kind of is.  She is my neighbor and we spend a lot of time together."

Kamdyn has made a point to sit with Campbell each afternoon on the bus to be sure that Campbell is where she is supposed to be and not scared.  Kamdyn has the sweetest and most thoughtful little heart!!

First Day of 4th Grade!

How can it be?  She is 9-years-old and in the 4th grade!!  Even though I am sad at how quickly she is growing up, I am also so very proud of the little lady that she is becoming.  This year she will begin AIG - a.k.a. the Gifted Program.  It starts in 4th grade here in NC.  We are super excited for all of the higher level thinking that our girl will get from attending twice a week for both reading and math.  I love anything that teaches children to think outside of the box.  We have no doubt that she will excel in this new adventure and new program.  The testing process to get into this program was intense.  She had to take several additional standardized tests on top of the required ones in order to qualify.  She passed in both reading and math with scores that simply amazed us!

She also moved to a beautiful brand new school this year.  I can't say enough about the overall vibe when entering the front doors of this school.  The staff, teachers, administration are all so positive and happy.  I am so glad that we chose to move Kamdyn even though it's on a traditional calendar.  We are proud to be Scott's Ridge Sailors!!

Our girl was a bit worried about not having any friends in her class.  Sydney's Mom and I discussed emailing the principal to see if there would be a chance to get Kamdyn and Sydney in the same class again.  We decided to let the chips fall where they may.  And, what do you know?  These girls ended up in the same class again....and there are 5 fourth grade classes.  We were actually at the lake when the post cards arrived.  Sydney called my cell phone asking to talk to Kamdyn.  Sydney checked our mail (without us knowing) and wanted to surprise Kamdyn by telling her that they got in the same class.  I asked Sydney to tell me first, but she politely said, "Can I talk to Kamdyn first? I want to tell her."  It was so sweet!

Needless to say, we are excited about the year and this new adventure.  Mrs. Nowak, look out, because here she comes!!

We were bummed that she had PE on her first day.....we had to save the cute outfit for the second day of school!

We had to get little sister in the pic, too!

Two of the sweetest kiddos I know!

Little brother and little sister were running all around the house while we were taking pics of the big kids.  These two will be starting Kindergarten next year together.  Heaven help the teacher if both of them end up in the same class!  ;)

Four-year-old CUTENESS!!

I snapped a photo of the sign while waiting to drop Kamdyn off in carpool on the first day!

I LOVE Beach Music!!

Yep, we sure do!  Kamdyn was at a sleepover this particular weekend so Richard, Karcie, and I ventured down to the Apex Nature Park where they host free concerts.  This one happened to be a Beach Music band.  They were awesome!  Shortly after we got situated, they came in the audience looking for volunteers to get on stage and dance to their original "Shake Your Booty" song.  I, of course, got roped into it.....they REALLY had to twist my arm!!  ;)  I shook my booty on stage and then Karcie shook hers the rest of the night.  She literally made friends with the band because she danced the entire time...most of that time was by herself up in front of the stage.   I have NO IDEA where she gets this from???  ;)  She tried most of the night to get her Daddy to dance with her.  I said to Karcie, "Karcie, I've been trying to get your Daddy to dance for years!"  She looked at me very matter-of-factly and said, "Well, why did you marry him then?"  Richard and I almost fell out of our chairs laughing.  This girl is something else!!

At the end of the show, Karcie WOULD NOT leave until she talked to her favorite band members.  They picked her up and gave her hugs.  She has talked about it almost every day since......

I would say it's a pretty good 4-year-old life if your first ever concert is a beach band!!

Look for me in red over on the right of the stage.

Shaking my booty!!

Karcie was JUST getting started!

The saxophonist came and played to Karcie.  She was scared at first, but then joined in!

See that lone shadow down front....that's our girl!!

Daddy finally danced with her!!  She made him wear his hat backwards.  So sweet!

Our Last Lake Hurrah Before School!

We spent almost the entire week before school at the lake.  We were so sad to see Summer leave.  We will still be at the lake on the weekends, but this was our last extended stay!

Uncle Matthew was coming to visit for the weekend so it was like Christmas around our house!  We couldn't wait for him to arrive at the lake.  We hope his three girls will get to come with him the next time!

As Uncle Matthew was leaving to go to the airport, Georgia arrived.  It was almost more excitement than these girls could handle!

Daddy's new toy!

The IPad tired her out on the way to the lake!

Floating with Uncle Matthew and Daddy

Resting with Uncle Matthew

Golf cart ride to watch the sunset!

Playing Memory with Uncle Matthew.  They met their match.  I think he beat them every time!

I was awakened to this silly girl!

I guess it could be worse!

She was crawling all over me!

Karcie jet ski ride with Daddy!

Kamdyn's turn!

We went to dinner one night in Clarksville.

On the way back, Richard stopped to see if we could catch some fish.

Georgia reeled one in....her first striper!

Kamdyn reeled in this beauty!

Little sister wanted to have her pic taken, too!

Love these three to pieces!

Super fun weekend collage.

We drove to Clarksville for gas, a few groceries, and an ice cream treat!  Yummy!
