Karcie's 2 Year Check-Up

It's so hard to believe that my baby is 2.  I know, that sounds so cliche, but it's absolutely true.  The years seem to go by faster and faster.  The past 5 months have been so great for me because I have been home to see every new change in Karcie.  I've got to witness every new word that she has learned to say.  Mostly, I've gotten the pleasure of watching this little girl's personality unfold.  It has been wonderful!  I only wished that I had been at home more to see Kamdyn grow up.  It's tough being a working Mom and being on the sidelines.  Even though Kamdyn wasn't deprived.  At. All.  I hate that I missed so much.

Karcie is such a little stinker.  At two, she already loves to aggravate and joke with everyone.  I LOVE this about her.  She is tough as nails and rarely cries when she falls, hits her head, etc.  It's really only when she is mad about something.  Since relinquishing her "pappy" she is talking up a storm!

The list goes on an on, but here are a few of her frequent sayings:

"Come wit me, Mommy!"
"Shishy (a.k.a. sissy)!  C'mon!"
"I do dat!" or "Karcie do dat!"
"Put on bathing soup (suit)?"  "Go to the pool!"
"I talk to Nanny?" as she brings the IPad to me.
"I watch Elmo?"

Today as we were driving back from the grocery store she said,
"Change dipey, Mommy! My pants wet!"  AND, they absolutely were....through her diaper straight onto her shorts!This girl is starting to have conversations with us and it is just so precious.  I love this age!!

She was perfect for the doctor.  NO SHOTS!!  I had warned her about what the doctor may do.  I told her that the doctor may want to look in her mouth.  As Dr. Johnson was looking in her ears, Karcie opened up her mouth WIDE and said, "AH!"  Dr. Johnson took the opportunity while it was there for the taking.  :)

Here are her stats.  We have two tall and skinny kids!

Weight = 26.4 lbs. (46%tile)
Height = 35.23" (86%tile)
Head = 19" (71%tile)
BMI = 14.9 (12%tile)

Let's Get Sticky!

We started out with putting stickers in a coloring book.  But, this is where they ended up!  Some big kids may have been involved.....Kamdyn and Sydney!  Luckily, Karcie was willing to play along.  I had no idea what was going on upstairs except there was lots of giggling and belly laughing.  Karcie walked down the stairs to show me what all the silliness was about.  :)

Beach Photo Shoot

Our trip to the beach was super low key and fun.  We I decided one night that we needed a little impromptu family photo shoot.  Funny thing is that we were given a free family photo session, but we were too lazy to actually schedule it and make our way into Myrtle Beach to actually take the photos.  So, we created our own photo shoot.  I see why photographers take SO many photos.  Only a few were "perfect" with everyone smiling or doing the "appropriate" thing.  But, I love all of the outtakes just as much and I wouldn't have it any other way.  We sure do love these girls.  Too bad I didn't plan enough ahead so that Richard and I had white shirts.  I was thankful that I remembered to pack white dresses for the girls!  :)

What is Kamdyn doing?

Do we really need to see her mood ring?  Monkey see, monkey do had to join in, too!!

Love my girls!  Finally, we are ALL smiling and looking at the camera!

This was our attempt to recreate a photo that Richard had taken with Kamdyn when she was 3!

Karcie cooperated for only a few seconds.

Then she was climbing up Richard's neck!

And there she goes!

This is how she intended the photos to be taken!  Funny little thing!

Love these precious eyes!

One of my favorites of all of the photos!

We asked a random stranger carrying a really nice camera to take these.  I felt bad handing her my "not as nice" camera.

Our two angels.

There seems to be a debate as to whether Richard or I take better photos.

I think I take a lot more, so I get a lot better shots!

ICE COLD water!

Sweet!!

Jumping for joy!  We tried all three of us jumping, but it just didn't work.  Karcie's feet never left the ground!

Love these two personalities!

Too bad they both weren't looking OR smiling!

Summer Begins at Holland Farm

On May 18th, our neighborhood officially kicked off the arrival of summer with the opening of our neighborhood pool and a big neighborhood block party later that night.  The girls had such a good time.....Mommy and Daddy did, too.  The pool was freezing, but it didn't stop A LOT of people from trying it out.  I, myself, stayed in a chair and watched from afar.

The block party was down the street.  They blocked off the streets.  Everyone brought a dish and there were hot dogs and BBQ for all to share.  There was cornhole for the adults.  The kids loved that they could roam around.  I've never seen so many children under the age of 9 in all of my life, especially girls.  We are glad to be in such a social neighborhood.  While we are still settling in, this is beginning to feel like "home."

Pool and Lake Day

Today, after Karcies 2 year check-up, she and I spent the morning at the pool. Richard got a hankering to go to the lake this afternoon! So here we are. Our first family lake day on Harris Lake since our move to Apex.

Moving fast down the lake!

I just knew that May would be be a less busy month since I'm no longer working!! WRONG! Posts this month have been few and far between and I have tons to catch up on. It will get done eventually! But for now, I've got to get to the pool or lake or something much more fun than blogging!!

Yay for summertime even though Kamdyns still in school. :( So glad she loves it! 6 more weeks and my baby will be in 2nd grade!!

Is she ready?

This is where we found Karcie the other night.  Things were a little too quiet so we knew what that meant.  :)  She was somewhere "exploring," but we never expected to find this.  She had her pants pulled down and was desperately trying to get herself up onto the toilet.  I have found her several days since trying to get on the toilet.  I fully expect to find her entire hiney in the toilet soon.....stuck!

We've been talking about the potty since we moved to Apex. The potty has been sitting out.  She gets on it occasionally, but we do not force it.  She watches a video, "Go Potty, Go" which she loves.  She has learned to potty, wipe, flush the toilet, and wash her hands, in that order, from the video.  When she pretends to potty, she wants to go through all of these steps.  I'm happy that she is making progress.  The only problem is that she has never actually done anything in the potty!  She tells me when she is wet and will say, "change dipey, Mommy!"  We know potty training is around the corner.  I hope she will be just as easy as Kamdyn was!

Park Playdate with Landon

Stacey and I took Landon and Karcie to the park this week.  They hadn't seen each other in over two weeks because their family was away at the beach for a week and then we were gone to the beach for a week.  They were both super excited to go to the park!  When we passed the park a day or so before our playdate, Karcie would say, "I see Landon!!  I go to park and see Landon!"  Except she says Landon like this, "Yandy."  It's so cute!

Karcie ended up with tons of sand in her hair.  But, that's what happen when two-year-olds play in the sand.  :)

Climbing

And swinging!
