Life is busy, but GOOD!!

Good Times with "OLD" Friends!!
I am ashamed to say that this is the first time that I've had a night out with these two amazing girls (now women) in 14 years, since we graduated from high school. Isn't that sad? Thanks to Facebook, we have been in touch with each other and decided that it was past time for us to see each other. We invited others, too, but they were not able to join us. It's hard to get everyone together because it seems that life is just so busy these days; however, I was kind of happy that it was just "us!" Hopefully the others will be able to join us next time.
We enjoyed a 4 hour dinner at Smoke on the Water in downtown Greenville. Yes, 4 hours! We couldn't eat for talking and laughing about the good 'old days and catching up on 14 years of our lives!! We attempted to "move" the party elsewhere, but we walked out to find that our car had been towed!! UGH!! Our night was cut short as we attempted to track down the car, but good times were had by all. We were having a hard time understanding why we didn't stay in touch to begin with!! Love you, Joy and Brandi! It was so good to see both of you!!
Joy, Me, and Brandi. I am sure the other people in the restaurant were wondering what was going on at our table! We laughed so loudly the entire time!! Our server thought we were crazy as she continued to "overhear" our conversations! There's nothing like "old" friends!
Me and Brandi. We have been friends since the 6th grade when I started Middle School at Wren Middle. Wow! That was a long time ago! Brandi has such a precious family!
Joy and Brandi. Brandi hasn't changed a bit. She is funny as ever!
Me and Joy. Joy and I have been friends since the 3rd grade! Now that's really a LONG time! I have missed her dearly and I am so glad that we are back in touch!

Birthday Party #1
Since Kamdyn and I were visiting my parents this weekend, a few days prior to Kamdyn's birthday, my Mom decided that Kamdyn needed to have a family party at her house. We had such a great time visiting with everyone despite the yucky weather. We really appreciate all of you coming and all of the wonderful gifts that you brought for Kamdyn! She LOVES them!! Much love to all of you!! It's always nice to go home! Kamdyn, of course, didn't want to leave on Sunday. She would move in with Nanny and Pop Pop if I would let her!!
We were looking at old pictures of Pop Pop with Aunt Jan, my Daddy's sister. Pop Pop was not feeling so hot on Saturday so he stayed in his PJ's and in his room for most of the day. We love you Pop Pop and hope that you get to feeling better soon!
Kamdyn and Nanny were about to say the blessing prior to us eating our hot dogs!
Kamdyn was showing Bren Bren (Aunt Brenda) how to "write!" This was my old desk when I was Kamdyn's age.
Kamdyn really enjoyed opening all of her presents. Check out her new pink Radio Flyer scooter. She loves it! Thanks, Tina, Jackie, and Robin!
Kamdyn prior to blowing out her candles. She was listening to all of us sing to her. As the blew out the candles she also covered the cake in her precious slobber!! YUMMY!!
I can't believe that my Baby Girl will be 3 tomorrow!!!

Ready for School....
Georgia attended a women's conference in Greenville this weekend. She could only keep Kamdyn for 1/2 a day on Friday. So, she brought Kamdyn to me at my school. Kamdyn had such a great time and proved that she is, indeed, ready for school! She sat so nicely and quietly as she listened during story time while my student teacher read. She REALLY enjoyed finger painting, so much so that she didn't want to stop. My sweet baby girl even took a nap just like the rest of my students. I think she is going to be a good little student next year when she starts 3K. Get ready, Ms. Pond!! :)

Seussical
Last Thursday night we went to see Seussical the Musical! I can't express how much Kamdyn LOVED the show. She sat up on my lap the entire time and never leaned back to rest. It wasn't over until 9:30! She was amazed. We were practically on the front row. When Dalton, who played Horton, was standing right in front of us, Kamdyn put her hands on her little cheeks. She looked at me and said in her most dramatic voice, "Mommy, why is Dalton so sad? I'm sad, too! Where is Jo Jo?" She cracked me up several times! I am so glad that we went to the show. It was great!
Kamdyn and Me. Ignore Suzanne in the background. She was looking around in the audience for someone! :)

Pedicures and Popsicles
I know that I am WAY behind with posting, but life has just been busy here lately! One day last week when the weather was beautiful Kamdyn wanted me to paint her toenails. So, we ventured out onto our back deck with popsicles in hand and enjoyed our "pedicures" and our popsicles. YAY for Spring!!!

Aiken Steeplechase
Our neighbors invited us this year to the Aiken Steeplechase. It is very similar to the Carolina Cup, but on a little smaller scale. It was FREEZING cold that morning when we left which explains our long pants. We were comfortable until around 3:00 when it started getting a little toasty. We had a wonderful time and the weather was near perfect! We had a spot "on the rail" and it was nice to actually see the horse races unlike how I remember the Carolina Cup. I rarely saw a horse the many years that I attended The Cup. :) I hope we get to go again next year.
Richard and Me in our warm clothes!
Bart and Cheree (our neighbors). They are so much fun!!
I got to see a horse!!
Whoa! That's a little be too close of me! But at least I got to see the horse races!
My favorite kind of a horse, a Palamino.

Spending time with Mrs. Denise
My dear and sweetest friend, Denise, so graciously kept Kamdyn for us all day Saturday so that we could go to the Aiken Steeplechase. For those of you who have been to the Carolina Cup, it is very similar. Kamdyn had such a great time with her. She jumped on their trampoline. She took a ride on their golf cart. She ate lunch and took her nap at Mrs. Denise's house. Last, she went to the Fine Arts school to see Ana Blake and Dalton practice their upcoming musical called Seussical.
Denise said that Kamdyn was in her element watching the show. Afterwards, she got to go on the stage and apparently, she took OVER!! I am worried that when I take her to the actual show on Thursday night that she will demand to go on the stage! :) I feel sure that we will see our little drama queen on stage someday!!!
Thank you, Denise! You are the best!! We love you!!

Espanol, por favor??
Kamdyn, being the verbal child that she is, has been obsessed with talking for as long as I can remember. She has been speaking in sentences (at least two word sentences) since she turned 1 and she hasn't looked back. Here lately she has been particularly interested in Spanish. Most would think this is because of Dora and Diego, but that's really not the case. She is just inquisitive and loves to learn new things just to test her memory.
After dancing tonight, her dance teacher came out to tell me two different things, one Spanish related and one not.
1. Kamdyn fell on her bottom trying to jump and told her teacher, "I want my Mommy to kiss my butt!" Her teacher found this particularly funny.
2. Her teacher also said that they were going around the circle telling their favorite colors. Kamdyn said, "pink," of course. Another child mentioned that her favorite was purple. One of the other teachers was trying to recall the colors in Spanish that she is learning in high school. As she tried to remember purple, Kamdyn chimed in and said, "Morado. Purple is morado!" Her teachers were amazed! We've been learning the different colors of elephants in one of her books.
On our way home from dance, I talked her in to going to the Mexican Restaurant with me instead of eating her coveted PB&J that we have every Wednesday night after a good night at dance. After leaving the restaurant she said, "Mommy, why didn't the man say you're welcome in Spanish? How do you say you're welcome in Spanish?" I told her "de nada." He had given her a lollipop to which she replied "thank you!" She wanted to call him on the phone and ask him why he didn't reply in Spanish.
Then, she said, "Mom, how do you say monster in Spanish?" I have committed many Spanish words to memory, but no where near to all. I have not a clue as to how to say monster in Spanish and I told her that. So, she said, "I know. I bet it's spooky-nada." I thought this was extremely creative and was surprised at the generalization that she was making from the hand full of words that she does know in Spanish. Turns out that it's really monstruo.
I'm sure there will be more Spanish lessons to follow! Adios, amigos!

I Might Even be a ROCKSTAR!!
Although this Hannah Montana outfit is quite large on her, Kamdyn had such a great time pretending to be Hannah. She pranced around the house in her high heels, holding her microphone, all the while singing, "You Get the Best of Both Worlds...."
Gotta find the shoes!
Go Hannah!
You Get the Best of Both Worlds.....
Check out the pink leopard print!
You can never have too many pairs of shoes even if they are for dressing up!

Easter's On It's Way!
We dug out some of our Easter stuff this weekend between taking naps, taking medicine, and eating! Kamdyn is enjoying playing with these silly plastic Easter Eggs! She even took her bath with them. :)

A Big Bed for Our Big Girl!
From crib, to toddler bed, to full size bed.
The finished product!
The first time she saw her new big girl bed! I don't think she was expecting a bed quite this BIG!
You can see the delight in her face!
She had to get her twin babies to try out the bed for the first time with her.
Then, she needed a blanket for all three of them.
She had to make sure that it was okay to jump on. It seems that someone has forgotten about the big knot on her head from jumping on our bed.
It's bedtime with Fancy Nancy. We read a book every night and she has to sleep with that book every night. She reads her book as soon as she awakens every morning. Good Night, my sweet angel!
I only have a couple of weeks left to prepare myself for the reality of my baby girl turning 3! Not only is it so hard to believe, but I find myself wondering where these three years have gone. She has grown up so quickly! It's only fitting that we say "goodbye" to the toddler bed that outgrew her long before today. Her head and toes literally reached from end to end.....kind of like a pair of shoes that are too small.
She came home from Georgia's today to her new "big durl" surprise. She has thanked her Daddy many times today for putting her "big durl bed todether." He has, of course, milked it for all it's worth insisting that it was "such hard work" and "his back hurts so badly from carrying it up the stairs." None of this is true. He put it together in her room almost effortlessly! She loves it and I think it is perfect for her. I am searching from some window treatments to match and I really would like to paint the letters above her bed hot pink. We'll see if any of those ideas come to fruition! Stay tuned......
