A Busy Day

We started the morning with Karcie's soccer game while Richard fished in his first ever fishing tournament on Jordan Lake.  He also won his first fishing tournament that day!

That afternoon was our neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt and that night we said good-bye to two sweet neighbors in our 'hood who moved to Chicago.  Kamdyn and Karcie made tie-dye cupcakes to share.  

It was a busy day, but we all had such a good time!

Richard went to the lake to fish and Kamdyn had friends over after school the same afternoon.  Karcie played with the neighbors and I looked out the window to find them creating something with a jump rope across the fence that divides our yard.  Silly kiddos!!

Charis, Kate, and Kamdyn...these three are the sweetest friends.  I am so glad that Kamdyn ended up in Mrs. Barton's class this year and so is she!!

Read Across America Week

The Kindergarteners participated in Read Across America week.  It's always during Dr. Seuss' birthday.  Each day they had to dress up as something different.  

Mixed up Monday so we mixed up some holidays!

Hat Day

Dress up as your favorite Dr. Seuss character.  I love that our vinyl machine and heat press can produce a shirt so quickly!! Thanks, Richard, for making her shirt perfect!

The last day was red, white, blue day.  Karcie was showing off the Snead that she made at school.

They also had a "Hearts for Life" / Jump Rope for Heart Event where they raised money for heart disease.  The kids decorated red and white hearts at school.  They had to list family members or friends who had passed away from heart disease on the white heart.  They had to write family members or friends who are currently living with heart disease on the red heart.  Richard's granddaddy passed away from a heart attack many years ago. Karcie was so proud to have that heart hanging on the wall at school.  Thanks to our family for donating $ in Kamdyn and Karcie's name.  They were excited to win all of their prizes and happy to collect money for such a great cause!

Richard's photos go to my Google+ account.  I love finding these gems when I sit down to blog.  Apparently Karcie was "fixing" Richard's hair and she has his phone taking photos.  Hilarious!

Field Trip to Marbles Museum

I will be honest, field trips aren't my favorite.  They weren't my favorite as a teacher and they aren't my favorite as a parent.  But, I am much more relaxed as a parent on field trips than I was with a teacher.  That being said, I am so very fortunate that I am able to spend these days with my girls.  When I worked, I would have had to take the day off and feel guilty about leaving my classroom full of kiddos.  Now I have zero guilt!!

This field trip was to Marbles Museum in downtown Raleigh.  There were enough chaperones from our class that I only had to be in charge of one other kiddo.  Lucky for me,  I got a super sweet one.  Karcie and Sam had such a fun time navigating each exhibit at Marbles.  Their only complaint was being STARVING!  They have lunch at 11:00 at school.  They didn't get to eat until 12:30ish. 

I will admit, even though field trip days aren't my favorite, this one was pretty good!  My girl had fun and so did the rest of the Kindergarten cuties.

Then it was Karcie's turn.  They had to use the paddles to make wind.  The guy running the show measured their wind speed.  They were trying to beat the last groups speed which was 5.2 mph or something like that.
