Kamdyn's Birthday

My sweet April Fool's Baby woke to her door decorated with balloons and a poster documenting her ten years in photos.  I don't know where the past ten years have gone, but I do know that every second of those ten years has been better with Kamdyn.  She is such a special little lady and has made our lives so much better.

My birthday girl was following me around on her birthday morning before school.  I just thought she was excited about her special day.  Turns out she had been plotting an April Fool's joke for me.  Several neighbors helped her plan this joke and even gave her a rubber band to help.  Anyway, I went to turn on the water in the sink to clean up the breakfast dishes and the water from the sprayer sprayed all over me and the kitchen.  Colleen told her to rubber band the sprayer so it would soak me!!  She told Kamdyn that I couldn't get mad at her on her birthday.  Even Richard knew!!  They all cracked up when I turned on the water.  

Kamdyn wanted to go skating for her birthday.  Karcie had never been, but I knew it would only take her minutes to get the hang of it.  And, I was right!  She clung to the wall for a while with me and was comfortable enough soon after to take to the big rink with Kamdyn and Campbell.

Later that night we went to dinner with The Kirks.  Kamdyn chose Mexican...surprise, surprise.  

Then we came home so that she could open presents and eat her cookie square cake.  Mrs. Colleen made cookie squares for Kamdyn because she loves them.  I decided to arrange them like a cake a put a few candles in them instead of buying more cupcakes or a cake that we certainly did not need.  My little prankster forget that paybacks can be worse.  I bought candles that kept relighting.  She has never had those before so she had NO IDEA what was happening.  It really freaked her out.....to the point that she almost cried.  Richard told her that a ghost was relighting them.  Anywho, I shouted "APRIL FOOLS" and she knew I had gotten her back from her joke earlier.  SOOO funny!!

It was a fun night for Kamdyn!  I hope she continues to know how much she is loved!

More Skating and Wii

Skating and Wii has been the norm around this neighborhood all week long!  Morgan also lives in our neighborhood and is a year older than Sydney and Kamdyn.  She is super sweet and has joined this duo to make a fabulous trio.

Little sister has to tag along, too!  Love her sunglasses!  We were thankful that it was sunny and warm enough for sunglasses on this particular day.

After skating, the girls rushed back to our house to enjoy their last few minutes of play on the Wii!  I would say that Kamdyn is loving Apex!

Let's Roller Blade

It was a gorgeous day.  We all headed outside to watch Kamdyn skate. It takes about 15 minutes to get skates, pads, and helmet on.  It's a lot of work.  Sydney spotted Kamdyn from her house immediately and can outside with her skates on.  Richard helped a lot at first, but eventually, Kamdyn was able to skate unassisted.  She is still working on stopping.  Her current method is to fall down!  :)

Thank goodness for Daddy!

He has much more patience than Mama!  Plus, Kamdyn gets so irritated with me.

Aunt Kathy was probably trying to keep Karcie from falling off her car.  She saw Sydney riding it in VERY different ways and decided that she needed to try it that way, too.  "Monkey, see! Monkey, do!"

I ran home to get the girls something to drink while they took a break.

The break didn't last long though.

He let go several times without her knowing.  :)

Uncle Jim was given the daunting task of keeping up with Karcie.

Boy, is that a tough task!  She wanted to get inside of our neighborhood pool!

Aunt Kathy and Uncle Jim Visit

Aunt Kathy and Uncle Jim arrived Friday evening just in time for dinner. We hung out with them for a while before bedtime.  We made sure to get a lot of sleep because we knew we would be busy on Saturday and Sunday.

First thing on Saturday morning, Kamdyn wanted to open her gifts from Aunt Kathy and Uncle Jim.  We waited until Saturday morning for obvious reasons.  She would not have been able to try out her new wheels in the dark on Friday night.  :)

Surprisingly, Karcie sat back and let Kamdyn open it alone.  Kamdyn was all smiles!

Roller Blades with full set of knee pads, elbow pads, wrist/hand guards, and helmet.  I was certain that the body armor was a MUST!

She could. not. wait. to put them on! 

But first, she had to give a big hug and thank you to Aunt Kathy!

Ruthie and Mama Lucy sent birthday gifts to Kamdyn via Kathy and Jim.  Karcie even got a present with a coloring book and crayons.  I think I have a few red crayon marks on the floor already.  :)

Kamdyn got a light up pillow pet thingy that she turns on at bedtime.  Kamdyn would kill me for not knowing the "proper" name.  It changes colors and put lights and pictures on her ceiling before turning off on it's own after 20 minutes.  She loves it and so does Karcie!

As soon as the presents were opened, Kamdyn darted upstairs to change clothes so that she could skate. I had to take a lot of deep breaths and my patience "medicine."  :)  

Skating at Jellybeans

The first 10 times that we saw Sydney, she was on her roller blades.  I asked her kiddingly if she slept in them.  She is a whiz at skating.  She has an older brother who plays roller hockey.  She wants to be able to do everything that he does so she took it upon herself several months ago to learn how to skate.  Her Mom said that it was very frustrating for Sydney at first and it took her a lot of practice.

Kamdyn has been watching Sydney zip around the neighborhood on her skates and knew immediately that she wanted to skate just like Sydney.  (insert comments from Mom and Dad)  It's not that we did not want Kamdyn to learn how to skate, we just know how sensitive that she is.  She cries over minor bumps and bruises.  We could just imagine the drama that would ensue with learning to skate.  Richard took her to Jellybeans a couple of weeks ago when I was sick.  We talked to her profusely about how many times she would fall and that she had to get back up WITHOUT crying.  To our surprise, she has done just that.  Richard still hasn't sent the photos and videos from her actual "first" skating adventure, but I was so proud of how well she did for her first time.  Richard actually skated with her to help her.

Fast forward a couple of weeks, Sydney's Mom and I took the girls on Good Friday.  Kamdyn got on the skates without my help.  The Moms watched.  Kamdyn skated around the edge and was able to go 3-4 times around at a time without falling.  It's all about balance and getting your confidence up.  Sydney is a great cheerleader and helper!
