I did so much better keeping up with each and every milestone that Kamdyn ever reached. With two children, it is a little more difficult to keep up with everything on a day to day basis. I looked back on the blog and realized that I haven't posted any stats on Karcie since she was 3 months old!! :( So here is my attempt at catching up and remembering.
6 Month Check Up
Weight - 18lbs. 6.6 oz.
Height - 27.77 in.
She was in the 97th-98th percentiles for both height and weight. Karcie loved baby food from the get go. She has had teeth since she was about 3-4 months old. She was eager to eat finger foods too. Her favorite baby foods were bananas, green peas, and any mixed fruits. She loves pasta and Stage 3 Lasagna. She isn't a picky eater, but if you feed her something that she doesn't like she quickly swipes her hand across her high chair tray and sweeps everything into the floor. It is great for clean-up time!
10 Month Check Up (we missed 9 months)
Weight 20 lb. 12 oz.
Height 29.25 in.
Again, she was in the 97th-99th percentiles for both height and weight. As soon as we knew that she had surpassed the 20 lb. mark, we got rid of her infant carrier and put in the big car seat. I was so relieved to not have to carry that huge, cumbersome carrier. She continues to eat and sleep well. She took to a sippy cup immediately. She loves to throw her cup on the floor and have someone pick it up for her, only to do it all over again. She started eating table food. She didn't love cut up bananas at first and would gag horribly. But after several tries, she loves them. She likes macaroni and cheese. She loves the Gerber Graduate ravioli pasta filled with cheese. She likes grapes and pretty much anything that we give her. She still takes three bottles per day prior to her naps and bedtime. She is still taking two naps per day - one in the morning and one if the afternoon. She is a wonderful sleeper at night. She has only been sick ONCE!! It was in January with breathing treatments, antibiotics, and everything. It was enough to last me a lifetime.
13 Month Check Up (we were late again)
Weight: 21 lbs.
Height: 30.5 in.
Head Cirumference: 18"
I scheduled Karcie and Kamdyn's yearly check-up on the same day not thinking anything about it. Kill two birds with one stone, right? Well, it turned out to be much more difficult than I anticipated. Karcie is a little tornado and had to be held the entire time for fear that she would tear the doctor's office apart. Kamdyn was petrified of getting a little finger prick...still dramatic as ever. When Kamdyn found out that she did, in fact, have to have her finger pricked, the waterworks began. When the finger was pricked she yelled to the top of her lungs! She informed me that I wasn't worried about her at all because I was too busy holding Karcie!
When Karcie got her finger pricked, she barely winced. She was only mad because the nurse wouldn't give her hand back as she was attempting to collect blood in the vile. Karcie got two shots, too. She did cry for these, but she was also mad because the nurse and I were holding her down. I always feel sorry for my sweet girls when they get shots, but trying to keep up with the both of them was crazy. The nurses kept coming to get Kamdyn to get her vision checked, then her eyes, and then to re-check her blood pressure. In the meantime, Karcie is running around the room restless as can be. WHEW was I glad to get out of there and boy, am I thankful to have two healthy girls with very different personalities. My beautiful, dramatic, rule-following, tender hearted Kamdyn and my little tornado, rule-breaking, loud, but, oh so very cute and precious, Karcie!!
15 Month Check-Up (one month late) Do you see the pattern?
Weight: 22 lbs., 15 oz.
Height: 31.5 in
Todays visit (9/27/12) was much better than our previous one. Karcie wasn't a little tornado this time. She made friends with a little 15 month old boy in the waiting room. They were really cute. This time, Kamdyn was only there for the ride so she wasn't worried the entire time about getting her own shots/finger prick. Instead, she kept telling Karcie what was about to happen to her. Thankfully Karcie didn't have a clue. Dr. Foushee said that Karcie looked great. She said, "Wow, she's feisty!" Yep, we know. She was having none of the stethoscope and when she tried to look into Karcie's ears, Karcie had a fit moving her head back and forth. The fun came when the nurse had to give her two shots. Holding Karcie down against her will only results in sheer screaming from her. This time was no different. She cried with both shots, but was almost instantly better when I picked her up. Poor baby! Our next appointment is on her 18 month birthday. This time we won't be late! :)
