It's been a while since we've spent Easter Sunday alone. We are usually traveling or someone is visiting us. With the girls being sick, I guess that was a good thing. Easter Sunday was VERY low key. I miss our old church a lot, but especially on special Sundays like Easter. Sadly, we haven't found a church here in Apex. It's my goal in the coming months. Even if we had a church, we wouldn't have been able to take these sick girls. :( I still made sure that we discussed the meaning of Easter though.
I want my girls to know that it's not about the Bunny and Baskets. It's also not always about going to church either. Church is great! Don't get me wrong or mistake my words. But, it's about how we choose to live our lives each day. It's about NEW LIFE!! An eternal life that Jesus promises to all who carry Him in their hearts. It's about the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us on that cross. It's about the empty tomb. He is RISEN!! All. For. Us.
Kamdyn gets it. Karcie still gives me weird looks. She's all about the Bunny and the Baskets right now even though she knows the Easter Story. ;)
So Easter Sunday started with the girls sleeping in just a bit. When they went downstairs to find their baskets, they found a half-eaten carrot and a note in our bunny's hand. Silly Easter Bunny decided that we needed to "hunt" for our baskets. The girls loved it!! The ran all over the house searching for each new clue. After running up and down the first and second floors several times, Karcie said, "I'm tired of going up and down these stairs!" The baskets were finally found on the 3rd floor, but only after they read the last clue with reminders of Jesus and his never-ending love for us.
We also waited until Easter Sunday to dye our Easter Eggs. The girls are always so excited to do this, but it never really ends up being nearly as fun as it seems........Lots of waiting instead of actual making.
Despite fevers and colds, our Easter Sunday was just as it should be. We spent it with our sweet little family and we enjoyed every minute of it.
