A Lesson with Scissors and Sewing

Kamdyn's teachers sent home a worksheet with two mittens on it. Our directions were to cut them out; decorate them with art materials; and, tie them together with string. They would be using the mittens to decorate their classroom door.

We covered hers with left over fabric from her bench cushions in her playroom. We added some cotton and we added some green bows on the mittens since Kamdyn always has a bow in her hair. We tied them together with green ribbon. Seems like such a perfect fun family night, huh? Well, not completely!

While I was cutting out the fabric in a mitten shape with grown-up scissors, Kamdyn decided to get her scissors. She was cutting a piece of paper on the floor "attempting" to help. Next thing I hear is, "Oh no, Mommy! I cut my pants!" She cut her brand new Christmas pants and went into hysterics. Luckily, she didn't cut her leg. The funniest part is that Richard volunteered to sew them back together. He did a great job and I even let her wear these pants the rest of the Christmas season. :)

Moments that Matter Most!

While the Christmas Season proves to be such a busy and hectic time, this year being no exception, it's moments like these that I love the most. Even though I seldom sit down with our busy schedule, I took a moment to snuggle and nap with my little girl on the couch one Sunday afternoon. Daddy was sneaking pictures of us until we caught him.

Parent Particpation Night at Dance

Kamdyn always enjoys having me in her dance class with her. She loves "showing" me all of her ballet positions. It's fun to see these little girls in action. August-December usually consists of fun tap dances with a focus on the correct ballet positions. January-May consists of learning the dances for the recital and practicing them weekly. Soon the windows will be covered and the recital dances will be a complete surprise until the night of the recital. They gave us a sneak preview of the costumes. I can't wait to see the recital "ballet" this year. As soon as she took the stage last year, my eyes filled with tears. It's so precious seeing these little "babies" on the BIG stage!

3K Christmas Program

Kamdyn was so excited about singing on the stage in "God's House." The teachers prepared the 3-year-olds well. Kamdyn said that her teachers told her, "No screaming. No jumping. No being loud in God's House." So cute! Kamdyn and the other children did a fabulous job with their medley of Christmas carols, songs, and finger plays. I didn't get any good shots while she was on stage. This was partly because everyone in front of me was standing up attempting to get that pefect photo or video of their little darling with no nevermind to those who were behind them and partly because I couldn't take a picture with my flash on which meant I had to hold the camera really still while dodging those in front of me. They turned out blurry! Luckily we got the program on video as Richard leaned into the aisle to capture the moment. I chuckled as I read a similar thought and post from my friend Carrie on her blog about attending her niece's Christmas Program in public school. The audience was really reverent at the church, I can imagine how these programs will be when Kamdyn is in public school in a few short years.

After the program we enjoyed birthday cake for Jesus and punch. Richard and I had to go to work that morning so we sent Kamdyn with Georgia. We are so blessed to have Georgia. I'm not sure I've said that lately! ;)

The Pink Tree

Kamdyn has had this tree since we visited Ruthie for Thanksgiving. Ruthie left a note on her front porch attached to a string for Kamdyn to follow through her house. The string led Kamdyn to this adorable pink tree fit for a princess who adores pink. Kamdyn loved the tree! It has been shining beautifully in her room since then. Kamdyn and I immediately went on a hunt for some perfect hot pink decorations to go on her pink tree. Nanny also bought Kamdyn some perfect purple ornaments. I guess this tree can be called her pinkalicious/purplicious tree and, to her, it was the most beautiful of the 4 Christmas trees in our house this year. Thank you, Ruthie!

Big Bird

We named this bird shortly after we moved here. Whether or not this is the same bird, matters not to Kamdyn. To her, Big Bird is "his" name. For whatever reason, this bird has been spending a lot of time on our dock. It has been there in the mornings and even when we return hours later. After many days of watching this bird, I decided that I had to photograph him. He has been fun to watch!


Seeing him next to the chair proves how big he actually is. His wing span is amazing!


Check out how high the river is. Usually the bushes to the left are completely out of the water. Only the tips are currently showing. Our catwalk on the dock is also straight out rather than sloping down into the water. We surely have had a lot of rain this December.

Fun Night at Georgia's

Georgia invited our family and Jacob's family over for dinner the Monday night before Christmas. We had such a great dinner, which was nothing unusual for Georgia. She is such a great cook! We also enjoyed spending time with great friends while exchanging gifts. Kamdyn LOVED seeing Jacob! She still misses him terribly.

Georgia kept Kamdyn and Jacob that night for a sleepover. They took them to see Christmas Lights and to get hot chocolate. They also got to stay up until 12:30AM!! What a blessing Georgia (and her family) is to our family. We are truly blessed! This is what Christmas is all about......spending time with friends and family and realizing how wonderful life truly is!

Kamdyn got a Pet Shop from Jacob and his family. In this photo she had just got finished saying, "This is my best gift that I wanted in the whole world!" Funny how a 3 year old tries to say what she means!! So cute!

Georgia bought Kamdyn and Jacob both a Zhu Zhu hamster. As most people know, Richard and I are NOT pet people. We laughed because this hamster is about as close to a pet as Kamdyn will get. She immediately named her Patty. I will post photos of her soon. For some reason, I didn't get any pictures of Patty that night!

Patrick and Carly's Wedding

Kamdyn was in her 2nd wedding as a sweet little flower girl. As biased as this may be, I think she has proven to be the BEST (3-year-old) FLOWER GIRL EVER!! :) I have been to many weddings where flower girls her age refuse to walk down the aisle; never throw the petals; cry the entire way down the aisle; stand up on the stage while screaming, squirming, flipping, jumping,etc. Kamdyn has been an awesome little lady in both weddings! She was sick during this wedding and still managed to do a great job! We are so proud of our little sweetie! Thanks, Patrick and Carly, for letting our baby girl (and us) be a part of your special day! Your wedding was just as beautiful as the two of you are!
