2 Year Check Up

Kamdyn had her 2 year check up yesterday with Dr. Foushee. She totally amazed us! First of all she played with the two little girls that were in the waiting room. Well, let me rephrase that. She took over the waiting room! She definitely knows how to get what she wants. Thankfully, she "commands" in her sweetest voice with her sweetest manners. Hey, it gets her what she wants!

They called her back and the nurse took her weight and height first. She has slowed down on her vertical growth! :) We thought she was going to be giant there for a while.

Weight - 26.4 pounds (50th percentile)
Height - 34 1/2 inches (75th percentile)

Then, the nurse said she needed to check her hemoglobin. Great, I thought, not at the beginning! I just knew the finger prick would send her into emotional trauma. To my surprise, she sat up on the counter, willingly gave the nurse her finger, got her finger pricked, and looked at the nurse as if to say, "that's it!" She got her rainbow band-aid and she was good to go! Not one tear fell from her eye! Did I mention that she can be rather dramatic at times? Thankfully, not today!

She waited ever so patiently for Dr. Foushee. The pictures show her sitting by Daddy showing off her Band-Aid. Dr. Foushee came in and carried on a conversation with Kamdyn. All was going well until she touched Kamdyn's pink painted toes and Kamdyn said (yelled), "Don't touch them!" Yikes! Not such a great way to start. Dr. Foushee said, "Well isn't she a little chatty Cathy!" I think that was her nice way of saying that Kamdyn surely speaks her mind. I said, "You just don't know the half of it!" Again, she was amazed at Kamdyn's vocbulary. She proceeded to ask Kamdyn what she wanted to eat for lunch. I cringed thinking that Kamdyn would say a cheeseburger, pizza, or all of the other unhealthy foods that she enjoys from time to time. Then, Dr. Foushee switched gears and said, "What did you have for breakfast?" Kamdyn said, "Peanut Butter and Jelly." UGH!!!!!!! She does eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches from time to time, but NOT for breakfast. She had oatmeal, but I was hoping that she would say something healthy to the DOCTOR! Oh well!!!

Last, Dr. Foushee asked Kamdyn where she was going when she left. Kamdyn politely looked at her and said, "For a boat ride and to the park! Bye Bye, Dr. Foushee!" She was correct. We did go on a boat ride and to the park. Oh, how our little sweetie continues to make us smile! Oh yeah, NO SHOTS TODAY!!

Eating Cereal

It's only fitting with how much I LOVE cereal, that Kamdyn love it, too! Here she is eating cereal out of her "fancy" bowl with a straw. She got this from Jacob's birthday party in October. I've just now been brave enough to let her try it out. She is finally getting the hang of this spoon thing without wearing half of what she is eating!

Otis

We have a new friend and his name is Otis. Otis is a caterpillar that we have captured and intend to watch it go into it's cocoon and later turn in to a butterfly. The other day we were sitting on our downstairs patio and Kamdyn exclaimed, "Mommy, a snake!" Richard and I immediately jumped up because we have seen several snakes around here crossing the road. Fortunately, it was a rather large caterpillar. I can see how she got confused. ;)

So, we decided to capture him in a jar. We threw in a few sticks and leaves. Then, I asked Kamdyn what she wanted to name him since she did name the NFL robot, Doby, one night; however, her creative juices weren't flowing on this particular day. I mean, what did I expect....she thought she had seen a SNAKE!!! She said, "Umm, how 'bout taterpillar." (we laughed) Richard said, "How about Otis?" She seemed to like this name. So, we've been checking on him for the past few days to see if he's gone into his cocoon. She already knows the whole process of how a caterpillar turns in to a butterfly because of The Very Hungry Caterpillar book. I do this at school each year with caterpillars that I actually order. I figured I would give this a shot because it's free! We are patiently awaiting! Here are a few pics of Otis!

Family Photo

Family photos are very rare. Usually, I'm behind the camera. Even in this picture, I'm hiding. :) They give you a small oval that everyone's face has to fit in to. It's really for two people, but we tried to squeeze all 3. Oh well, I guess we have big heads! We just got our printer/scanner up and running so I thought I would post this picture. At least it's a cute picture of Richard and Kamdyn. ;)

Sunday Boat Ride

Would you believe that since we had our dock installed, it has rained everyday? Unbelievable! I guess it was good because it gave us some time to actually attempt to get our house together. While we are still a good ways off from everything being "perfect," we are much closer this weekend than we were last weekend.

We finally took our boat out today. It was such a perfect day. Kamdyn was a complete doll. She didn't fuss once about having to keep her life jacket on. I explained to her that she had to wear her life jacket every time she was on the dock or in the boat. I told her that the life jacket would keep her safe. She accepted my explanation and was ready for the boat ride.

We rode a little ways down the River and showed her where her new park was. She, of course, wanted to stop. We docked the boat and set off for the park. Unfortunately, it was too wet to slide because of all of the rain we've been having. She enjoyed herself anyway! At least she has something to look forward to. I think part of her reservation to moving to this house was that she was having to leave the park from our old house. I think we cured that today! As we were headed back to the dock/boat, she said, "I have to put on my life dacket. It will teep me safe." Wow, she was listening!



Richard is excited by the fact that he can now ride his boat to
get his haircut, go to the bank, eat dinner, etc.

Our 2-year-old

Kamdyn turned 2 this week which is still so hard for me to believe. She is such a big girl! She actually looks and sounds like a 3-year-old. I have to remind myself often that she is only 2 because I tend to treat her like a 3 or 4 year old. I do expect a lot from her, but I don't think my expectations are too high. Even though she will always be my baby, my philosophy with her and my students at school is that you get what you expect! If you set the bar high, they will achieve it! So far that has worked at both work and home. Look how much she has grown!

Relaxation....Finally!

This is where we found Daddy when we got home yesterday. This was how he chose to begin his Spring Break. Thanks for the hammock, Potter! You can see that it is already being put to good use.


We have the week off and we are SO looking forward to enjoying our new house! Being on the River is like being on a vacation!

Kamdyn couldn't sit still long enough in the hammock. She decided to dig in her new sandbox.....made of rocks. :)
