Nanny Visits

Even though we hated to see Daddy go back to work we were blessed to have Nanny here with us instead.  She stayed from Monday to Friday.  I guess things were so hectic that I forgot to get out my camera.  Nanny entertained Kamdyn the ENTIRE time and even got some quiet time (in the middle of the night) with Baby Karcie.  We enjoyed having her here and can't wait for her to come back!  We love you Nanny  Thanks for all of your help and patience!

Hanging Out with Daddy

Unfortunately, Richard had to go back to work this week.  He couldn't wait to get home and hold his sweet girl everyday!  Here he is practicing one of his "5 S's" from the Happiest Baby on the Block video - swaddling!

Two Week Doctor's Appointment

Karcie was two weeks old on Friday, June 10th, which was also her two week doctor appointment.  Dr. Foushee was out-of-town so we had to see Dr. Cannady.  He turned out to be super nice!

I had all intentions of taking a photo of Karcie's first doctor's visit.  The outfit below is what I had Karcie dressed up in (and, she looked adorable); however, as we were waiting to be called in the waiting room she decided to spit-up like a fountain.  In fact, it was the most she had spit up the entire two weeks.  GREAT!!  Just my luck!!  It went everywhere including all in the car seat.  Luckily, I did pack another onesie, but it wasn't nearly as cute.  Thankfully, she did great during her visit and didn't cry one time.

Dr. Cannady said that she looked great.  He said she was a little bit jaundiced which was probably from breastfeeding, but was nothing to worry about.  He removed the rest of her belly button cord and cauterized it.  He was very pleased with her weight gain.....she lost down to 7 lbs. 5 oz. in the hospital and had gained over a pound and a half!  Yay!  At least I know she is getting an ample supply of breast milk! He said her peeling skin was to be expected and would eventually stop.  He said that the two red marks in her eyes were just busted blood vessels that would correct on their own, too!

Here are her two week stats:
Weight  8 lbs. 12 oz.
Length 21 inches
Head Circumference 14 cm

Our cute little strawberry outfit without our cute baby!  :)

First Outing with TWO kids!

We got out a little bit this week, but didn't do anything too major.  Mostly, we took a trip in the car to get lunch, to take back Kamdyn's library books, and to take Karcie to the doctor.  I realized that Karcie can't fit behind my seat.  And, Kamdyn can no longer sit in the middle.  Two car seats make for a crowded back seat!  I think this having two children thing might not be so difficult after all!  I LOVE it!!

Kamdyn or Karcie?

Can you tell the difference?

Kamdyn or Karcie?

I am amazed at how much Karcie and Kamdyn look alike as babies!  Can you tell which is which?  I am going to dress Karcie in a few of Kamdyn's outfits to do some real comparisons!

What's Big Sister Been Doing?

I really expected Kamdyn to go through some emotional "issues" with Karcie's arrival.  Fortunately, she has not!  She has exceeded my expectations!  I knew she would be a great big sister and a good helper, I just kind of thought there may be a transition period when we brought Karcie home.  Thankfully, that has not been the case!  We have tried to keep Kamdyn on a schedule as much as possible which has included keeping her busy with fun things just for her on a daily basis.  Richard has taken her to the pool nearly everyday this week, which she has LOVED!  He also took her with him grocery shopping and to buy a birthday present for her friend Pressley.  I love seeing the two of them spend time together!  It is good for both of them!  She also had a play date with Jacob and Georgia this week.  And, she had a birthday party to go to today!  She seems to have adjusted well to her little sister.  She loves her dearly and calls Karcie "her baby!"  We are blessed!

Pinata time again!

Week 1 with Baby Karcie

This first week with Karcie has been such a joy!  Richard took his week of paternity leave and we have loved every minute with our two precious girls!  So far, Karcie has been easy. (I say so far because I remember after two weeks with Kamdyn that colic set in.  I am praying that this doesn't happen with Karcie!)  She is sleeping about 4 hours at a time which is AWESOME for Mommy especially at night!  I seem to be a lot less stressed this time around.  I think my stress is less for a number of reasons.....one, because this is my second baby; two, because we DO NOT wake her to feed her like we did with Kamdyn; three, I am A LOT more rested and calmer; and, four, Kamdyn is such a big help and is such a GREAT big sister!  I think I am able to realize that these moments simply go by so quickly that I am really focused on Karcie being a sweet baby!  So here is a sneak peak at what week one has been like for us with Karcie around!

Ana Blake came to visit!

We made cupcakes in honor of Karcie's one week birthday!

We really made them to give Kamdyn something special and fun to do, but we used Karcie's one week birthday as our excuse!  :)
