Happy Mother's Day 2010

This Mother's Day was spent in Anderson with Mama Lucy, Ruthie, and Nanny. We enjoyed a yummy lunch and some fun times together. I can't think of three better examples of Mom's! I am so blessed and so thankful to have each of these women in my life and to call them "MOM!" I hope my sweet little girl will look back one day and have the same respect and admiration that I have for the three of them!

Tricycle to Bicycle

Kamdyn has a used bicycle at Mama Lucy's. We haven't bought her one of her own yet because she has been resisting riding a bicycle so much that I didn't want to force the issue or spend the money if she wasn't ready. So, we got some good practice this weekend. Once we raised the seat and put some air in the tires, she was set! We've graduated from tricycle to bicycle and the old "new" bicycle lives at our house now until we can pick out a new one! Way to go, Kamdyn!

Although I wish he had drank all of these, they weren't all his. We were making fun because Aunt Kathy ordered a small one. Richard and I ordered a medium one. They ran out of glasses and Richard got an upgrade!! His lucky day!

What is This?

One of the many wonderful reasons that we love spending time at Mama Lucy's house is all of the wonderful antique toys that she has from when Richard and Matthew were children. Believe it or not, she still has a lot of things from when Ruthie was little. Kamdyn loves to plunder and explore these old toys. Her new favorite is the record player that she can now operate by herself. Not that operating a record player is a complicated task compared to today's technology; however, we had to explain to her how to put the needle on the record at the beginning and to do so VERY carefully because finding a needle to go on a record player these days would be near impossible. She also knew how/when to change the record speed from 33/44. My how the times have changed!

She listened to records with music, but she especially loved listening to the Gremlins books on record. Those books sent me back in time. I sure did LOVE Gizmo when I was younger. Remember...."bright light!"

The record she is holing is paper thin. I didn't remember records like this.


One of the records was her Great Granddaddy's that he used to listen to. It was so sweet to see her listening to the song.

First Jet Ski Ride

I will spare Nanny the videos from this first ride because I was a little scared myself; however, we seem to have a speed demon on our hands. She loved every minute of the jet ski. Daddy even did a few tricks on the jet ski that Mommy didn't approve of, but Kamdyn seemed to love it! She has asked to go on a jet ski ride just about every day since her first ride.

A Day in the Country....on the River

The first Sunday in May is "A Day in the Country" at Augusta's Riverfront Marina. Lucky for us, it's right across the river from our community boat dock, gazebo, green space so we get to attend for free! We all invite friends and family to join in on the fun! We eat, listen to music, play games, ride people back and forth to our houses on our golf carts (even randoms from the river walk up and ask to use the bathroom), swim, etc. It's a family fun-filled day!

Olivia and Kamdyn
Olivia is one of my students this year. She is one of the "triplets" that you all have heard me talk about! I LOVE them and their Mom! Their Mom teaches next door to me. We have mutual friends. Kamdyn loves the triplets!


Yes, some were having so much fun that the ambulance had to be called. Thankfully, it wasn't for me or anyone with us! Someone cut their leg in the river. The ambulance came to get them at our community dock. Never a dull moment! Cars, trucks, and boat trailers lined all of the streets in our neighborhood that day. I think it was the best turn out that we've seen so far! Can't wait until next year!

Annie at The Imperial

So, we're a little obsessed with live theater these days.....but, Kamdyn loves it! I got front row tickets and I knew that Kamdyn would be mesmerized watching the children perform on stage. She was! At the end she said, "Do you know what part I didn't like? When it was over!" I can't wait to see my little dramatic baby on stage one day! Nanny came down for the day. We enjoyed the afternoon with her along with dinner downtown and Annie at The Imperial!

A Favorite Hobby

Kamdyn can often be found in our bedroom in my favorite new brown chair either watching TV or playing on the computer! She takes after her Mommy and Daddy and LOVES her computer time. Luckily, we have three laptops (thanks Uncle Matthew) so we don't have to share. Sharing.....well, that's a conversation for another day and another trait that she gets honestly!! :)
