Kamdyn at 4 months

Here is Kamdyn the day that she turned 4 months old, 8/1/06. These were not taken by the "professional" photographer. However, I wanted a portrait of her in between our Fitz Symms sessions. This is a much cheaper alternative which allows us to purchase more pictures to share with family and friends. Kamdyn did great for two poses. Then, the lady decided to try and take some pics of her on her stomach. That didn't go so well! Kamdyn started pitching a fit and just couldn't get herself back together. I tried to console her, but she wasn't having anything more to do with posing for pictures. Unfortunately, we had to cut our session short. She screamed all the way to the car. Luckily, we did manage to get three poses that turned out pretty cute. Enjoy!

Kamdyn's 8 week portraits

These are some of the professional photographs that we had taken of Kamdyn when she was 8 weeks old. We chose a studio in Augusta that I absolutely love. The lady who photographs the babies and children is wonderful! Believe it or not Kamdyn was wide awake when we arrived for her photo session. The photographer took the "awake" pictures first. Then, she managed to get Kamdyn asleep herself by holding her, rocking her, and playing the sweetest music. I was an emotional wreck as I watched this lady capture this moment in Kamdyn's life. As Celine Dion's song, "Miracle," played in the background, tears rolled down my cheeks. I realized at that moment that Kamdyn would forever have my heart in the palm of her hand. All Mom's and Mom's-to-be should purchase Celine Dion's CD, Miracle. It will pull at your heart strings!

Not much happening

My Mom keeps asking for a new post, but I haven't really had anything new and exciting to post. We've been so busy that we haven't been taking nearly as many pictures of the little Princess. Her babysitter did tell me on Friday 9/8 that Kamdyn is pushing herself around backwards in the walker that she has at her house. That's a pretty new accomplishment! Kamdyn is also pushing herself up on her arms when she is lying on her tummy. She is finally enjoying her stomach for more than five seconds. She rolled over from her tummy to her back yesterday on her own, too. She continues to grow and amaze us. The hardest thing to report is the fact that I miss her so much when I am working. I live for the weekends and the uninterrupted time that I get to spend with her. I love watching her and her personality!

Her next Doctor's Appointment is on October 10. This will be her 6 month check-up. We also have an appointment to have her "Mommy and Me" picture portrait session done on September 26th. I can't wait to have these pictures taken! She is at such a fun age.

Watching football with Daddy

Kamdyn watches TV with Daddy. Check out those cheeks! She adds another roll to those thighs and another acorn to those cheeks every day!

We put her cute little ball cap on so Poppy could see a video of her on his cell phone. She looked so adorable that I had to add these to the blog. Maybe we'll have a boy next for Daddy and Poppy's sake.

Excersaucer

Kamdyn just doesn't know about this Excersaucer thing. I keep trying to put her in it, but she doesn't seem to like it that much. Maybe it's because her feet don't reach the bottom yet. She tolerates it for a few mintues and then gets bored. I hope she will like it more when she is able to sit up a little better. If not, I guess we wasted our money on this toy. I even put the thing together all by myself, I might add! Richard wanted to know if he needed to take out a life insurance policy on Kamdyn since I had put it together. :) I'm actually pretty good at following directions. He's the one that would have probably ended up with left over pieces and the directions would have still been in the box. Roll Over.....Roll Over

Yea!!!! Kamdyn finally rolled over on Wednesday, August 23rd for the first time. And, of course, Richard and I both missed it. I was cooking dinner (if you can call it that) and Richard was playing on the computer in between checking the steaks on the grill. Kamdyn started fussing, which is the norm around 6:30 every night. We didn't think anything about it. I continued cooking. Richard finally looked down at her on the floor and, to his disbelief, she was on her stomach. She was actually fussing because she was on her belly not because she always fusses at that time of night. By the way, she still HATES being on her tummy! We got out the video camera, but she never would roll over for us while we had it out. She did manage to roll over a few more times that night though. Since then, she has been much better about staying on her stomach once she rolls over. I guess her next trick will be figuring out how to get from her belly to her back. Her arm seems to always be in the way as she tries desperately to return to her back! We always have to give her a push back over.

I still can't believe how quickly she continues to grow. I just held a two week old today that one of my friends (Gina) from work just had. She is a precious baby girl with tons of dark hair. I wanted to bring some of her hair home for Kamdyn! :) I couldn't believe that my little angel used to be that little. It goes by all too fast! You get so busy living your life that you sometimes forget to take in all of those "special" moments. Before you know it they are gone.

You can tell from this picture that rolling over to her tummy wasn't quite what she thought it would be. This is how we found her the first time that she rolled over. She was pitching a fit!

I guess she didn't figure out that rolling over is what got her in the first predicament. She was determined to try it again as soon as we helped turn her over to her back. Before we know it she will be crawling and sitting up. She wants to sit up so badly that she can't stand it!

Mmmmm......Cereal!

Kamdyn went to the doctor yesterday (8/7) for her four month check-up. She is a healthy baby, says the doctor. She weighs 14 pounds, 10.5 ounces and she is 25 inches long. She got three shots, which was hard on Mommy and Daddy. :( Even so, we all survived! The doctor also said that we could start giving Kamdyn either rice or oatmeal cereal. Yes, I know, we are probably the ONLY parents in the world who actually waited on the doctor to tell us that she could have cereal. But, she is none the worse for it and has been a happy baby that sleeps 12 hours a night WITHOUT cereal. Surprise, surprise, it turns out that babies can sleep through the night without cereal contrary to popular belief! Trial and error and trusting our instincts got us through and bedtime is a breeze for Kamdyn and for us! :) So, I did give Kamdyn some rice cereal tonight and she really seemed to LOVE it after she got the hang of that spoon. She ate every bit of what I had made which was about 3 tablespoons of both cereal and formula. She did keep pushing that little tongue out trying to figure out what that stuff was. But, she was determined to figure the spoon and cereal out. And, she did! Hmmm....I wonder who she gets that persistence from??? So, here she is eating her first bowl of cereal. If she's like her Mommy it will be the first of many, many bowls of cereal. We will have to start buying two gallons of milk a week in a year or two....one gallon for her and one for me! :)

Kamdyn's First Day at Georgia's (babysitter)

How do you drop your baby off at the babysitter's house for the first time without falling completely apart? Well, I did manage to keep my composure today. But, it may have been one of the hardest things that I've had to do since being a Mommy. Staying up half the night, feeding every two hours, losing tons of sleep, listening to an unconsolable baby cry for five weeks.......none of that compared to how I felt this morning. And, even though I didn't fall completely apart, I couldn't quite get Miss Kamdyn out of my mind ALL day. I was imagining what she would be doing if we were at home together. Several times, I thought.....did I make the right decision about coming back to work? The reality of it is that she and I both will probably be better for this in the end. We were blessed to have found such a wonderful sitter to keep Kamdyn in her home. Georgia only keeps one other little boy who is two years old (Jacob). Kamdyn will probably learn more from watching and listening to him than she ever would from sitting with me all day long. While I know all of this in my head, my heart says keep her at home and savor every minute of her life as a baby. However, when I called to check on her today (which I only did twice!!!) she was "talking" away and having a great time. My mind was eased and I realized that I was going to be okay. Afterall, I'm the only one that needed comforting. Kamdyn was fine!! At 4:00, I was off to pick up my precious angel. She smiled when she first saw me and then began pitching a fit. I hope that the fit was because she missed me SO much! She did finally calm down with a bottle and she was fine the rest of the night. Now she is sleeping away and I get to go through these emotions all again tomorrow. I pray that it will get easier. Until then, I will take advantage of every minute that I have with her in the evening before she goes to bed.
