Our Precious Mama Lucy

Our precious Mama Lucy went to be with Jesus on November 12.  Richard and Matthew were there the entire week before as they moved her in to the hospice house in Anderson.  I am so thankful that they were able to spend those last days with her.  She lived such a long, faithful, and healthy life.  I am proud to say that I was part of her family.  She was a true servant of the Lord.  She was kind, giving, loving, and would let you know when you stepped out of line.  Kamdyn's middle name is Lucy after Mama Lucy.  I have always said that Kamdyn is an "old soul."  She spent so much time with Mama Lucy when she was little.  I pray that both of my girls will live their lives by example just as Mama Lucy did.  I know that her legacy will live on in her four great granddaughters.

We will miss her terribly, but we are so thankful for the many years that she was here with us.  Not many children get so much time with their great grandparents.  I feel blessed that Kamdyn and Karcie did.  Our lives are better because of Mama Lucy.

We got to visit with Mama Lucy just a few hours before she passed away.  We talked to her, loved on her, and the girls sang to her.  It was hard for me to keep it together, but I did for my girls.  I will forever be grateful for these final minutes that we were able to share with Mama Lucy.  

I posted several photos that I love with Mama Lucy in them.  At times like this, I am grateful for my blog.  It takes so much time to keep up with it, but when I need photos, they are only a "tag" away.

We spent one morning hanging out with Mama Lucy in her room.  We attempted a photo with all four of the great grandchildren with Mama Lucy.  Trying to get all five of them to smile at once was comical.  There were three cameras flashing at once.  Mama Lucy was not loving the flash.  We did manage to get a few that were sweet.  

The girls sang a few Christmas songs for Mama Lucy.  It was precious!  The best part was when Mama Lucy joined in and started singing with them.  

We adore Mama Lucy and we are so thankful for time spent with her.

Thanksgiving with the Family

We decided to have  Thanksgiving the Sunday prior to the actual day since we were already in SC for the Clemson game.  It turned out to be such a wonderful idea!  We always join forces and include both sides of our families since both of us have small immediate families.  We were even able to have Mama Lucy there with us.  Nanny was a wonderful host and everything was delicious!

We always enjoy our time with those that we love most.  We certainly are thankful for our family and for the many blessings that God so graciously sends our way each year.

Richard took the girls to see Mama Lucy the weekend we were in town for my reunion.  I was busy finalizing details.  He took lots of great photos, but this is the only one that he sent me.  These two K girls surely love Mama Lucy and they enjoy every second that they get to spend with her!

Another Anderson Weekend

We were in Anderson for Mr. Potter's funeral.  It was such a sad time for us and the Potter family.  We enjoyed spending time with them and catching up with friends that we don't get to see that often. 

Kamdyn and Karcie enjoyed spending time with Aunt Kathy and Uncle Jim while we were at the funeral.  We appreciated them keeping the girls so much!  Kamdyn and Karcie got to have lunch at Chick-fil-A and they got to go to the movies with Aunt Kathy and Uncle Jim.  They didn't really want to leave when we came to pick them up.  

The girls were super happy to see Uncle Matthew.  We all went to visit Mama Lucy, too.  She looks so happy to have both of her boys with her at the same time.

The girls got to spend lots of time with Nanny.  Nanny let them help plant some flowers in her garden to keep the critters away from her veggies.  

Richard and I went to the Clemson Spring Game and later that night we went to see Lee Brice in concert in Clemson.  We relived a few of our glory days by making at stop at The Esso.  As we were walking inside so I could use the restrooms, Richard said, "Did you see who was sitting out there that we just passed?"  Nope, of course, I didn't.  He said, "That was Charlie Whitehurst."  Naturally, I had to get my picture taken with him.  No one else there seem to know or care that he was there.  Perhaps they were too young to even know who Charlie Whitehurst is.  How could anyone forget his streak of beating the Gamecocks so many times in a row?  Too bad he had to leave. It seems it went downhill after that.  :(

Easter Egg Hunt at The Renaissance

The Renaissance, where Mama Lucy lives, hosted the best little Easter Egg Hunt.  There were tons of eggs, but there weren't tons of kids.  The kids had a blast finding a lot of candy filled eggs.  There were three golden eggs.  If you found a golden egg, you won a $20 Walmart gift card.  Kamdyn was proud as punch to find one.....with a little help from her Daddy.  Karcie also thought she found a golden egg.  We will never tell her that we actually just hid  Kamdyn's again so that she could find one, too.  ;)  It was a sweet morning with Mama Lucy and Ruthie.  So glad that Mama Lucy got to see the girls participate in this.  I think she really loved having all of us there.

It's funny because Karcie has on a jacket that is one of her school friends.  They got their jean jackets mixed up at school and I didn't even notice it until I was looking back through these photos on my camera that day.  Karcie's real jacket is a little big lighter!
