Jordan Lake

You simply can not keep this man away from the water.  He is constantly researching.  Looking for the best lake, the best fishing, the best boat ramps, places for our entire family, etc.  After he got home from work, we picked up a Little Caesar's pizza and bread sticks and we headed to Jordan Lake.  They must expect BIG crowds in the summer because the parking lot is huge and so is the "beach" area.  It seemed like a good spot for us once summer arrives. The kids had a good time except for the pesky squirrel that kept trying to  eat our food.  He seriously eye balled us the entire time we were eating. I wish I had some video of Richard chasing the squirrel off. One word - HILARIOUS!

Gymnastics Camp

These two peas in a pod went to gymnastics camp this past week over track out.  I teeter tottered over sending her for selfish reasons - I wanted her home with me!  However, after hearing, "I'm bored!" over and over again on her first day at home, I knew I had made the right decision.  She loved it!  She came home everyday telling us about what she had learned and how adventurous she had been that day.  The had some gymnastics instruction, but mostly they got free time on the equipment.  It was full day so they had two snacks and lunch provided by parents.  It was a great week for her!  Her confidence has soared since we moved to Apex. Happy Kamdyn = Happy Everybody!  :)

I realized that I forgot to post this in February!  How could I?  Maybe because February was nuts with us moving!!  This is what I made for Richard for Valentine's Day to remember our time on the Savannah River in North Augusta.  Carrie Potter inspired me after making one of these for the cruise that we took last May.

Kamdyn's First Doctor's Visit in Apex

We loved our pediatrician in North Augusta.  Dr. Foushee was great!  We asked around about peds here and chose one that is in Apex.  Many travel to Raleigh, Cary, etc., but we wanted one that was close to home.  After researching the doctors and their credentials, I chose Dr. Johnson at Apex Peds.  She actually went to the Medical College of Georgia (now GRU) and lived in Augusta for a while.  

We were really pleased with her and the office in general.  We were seen very quickly.  Everyone was friendly and Dr. Johnson was super patient and nice.  She sat down with us, gave us plenty of attention, and actually listened to Kamdyn.  Turns out, she actually trained with Dr. Foushee when she was in Augusta.  Small World?  I think so!

Kamdyn was thrilled that she didn't have to get her fingered pricked, but shuttered when Dr. Johnson uttered the words "shot" for an additional Hepatitis A vaccine.  She said we could wait, but I chose to get it over with so I didn't have to listen to Kamdyn agonize over it for another year.  :)  She did fine after a few tears!

Kamdyn weighed 48 lbs which is 37% 

(She's still skinny as a rail and has always been around the 30th percentile for weight)

Her height was 48.5 inches which is 59% 

(This surprised me because she's always been in the 90th percentile for height and everyone always comments on how tall she is.)

Her BMI was 14.3 which is 23%

.....again, a skinny little thing and I PROMISE we feed her.  This girl LOVES some junk food!  :)

So pleased that our first visit went well.  Round 2 with Karcie is the day after her birthday, May 28. 

This "ain't" CHOCOLATE!

Look at that sweet face and those huggable, squeezeable cheeks!  This little mischievous stinker was coloring at the bar the other night while I was making dinner and her sister was working in her 2nd grade workbook.  I turned around to this mess!  I thought to myself, "Where did she get chocolate?  How did I miss that?"  Ummm, NOPE!!  The girl was eating the brown crayon.  WHAT???  Who does that?  Karcie, do!!  :)

DANG!!  I had to throw that crayon in the trash, but not before Richard and I got a good laugh and a photo.  Love this girl to pieces, but she is "breaking the mold!"  Have I mentioned that she is her Daddy's child?

Loving Spring!

The weather has been really nice here lately.  We had a few cool mornings, but great afternoons.  For the first time in forever, I feel like we are getting to really experience a true Spring.  We pulled out the easel and the girls colored, used the dry erase markers, and chalk.  Next week I MAY get adventurous and let the girls paint with real paint and paintbrushes.  To be continued....

Counting to 10

This little booger can count to ten plus a few other things added to the end!  And, I do believe that she is going to be a lefty.  She appears to be ambidextrous (Ha!) in this photo, but she clearly favors her left hand and has much more control over it.  This morning we were coloring and counting.

Tooth Fairy - 6

Kamdyn had a dramatic tooth extraction a few weeks ago.  One of her permanent teeth was pushing her baby tooth out.  It needed to come out.  It was loose, but needed some work.  Richard was determined to get it out.  After lots of tears, screaming, and drama, it came out.

This took was much more cooperative!  Kamdyn got home from gymnastics camp and asked him to pull it immediately.  It was dangling.  So much so that when he removed the paper towel, the tooth was gone, but neither of them knew that he had actually pulled the tooth.  We all giggled and there were ZERO tears and only a few drops of blood.  SUCCESS!

The tooth fairy is winning by 6 now.  She left $5, a gold chocolate coin (she's officially out of these), and a teeny tiny note.  Thankfully, Kamdyn still puts her tooth in her tooth fairy tooth pillow and hangs it beside her bed.
