Karcie and Daddy Dance

I have spent years being secretly jealous of daddy daughter dances. I am sure you all would think the opposite. You'd be wrong. Oddly, the places we have lived didn't have them. That or Kamdyn always hid the invite. I was not so secretly looking forward to this. When kids get older, they start to think they know best and you're not as awesome as you used to be. At Karcie's age, she still loves her daddy. I'm still awesome. She smiled from the time I picked her up at Nanny's, through dinner and all through the dancing. Here is the best part. She was happily stuck with me in the car and even at dinner. We entered the gym after we had our picture made. Immediately I saw over half the Dad's in the bleachers and the girls had all found their friends. They were all playing together and having a good time. Karcie saw her friends and I knew she wanted to play. Karcie loves to play with friends. She cant be stopped. I encouraged her to go see them. I figured that was it and I was eyeing the cake and wondering what I would do for the next 1.5hrs. After about 5 minutes she comes back to me- I figured to hold her shoes or some other daddy duty. Nope. She was back to dance. I asked her why she wasn't hanging with her friends. She said it was our night to hang out and that she would rather dance with me. She plays with them all the time she says. So hang out and dance we did. I never got to sit in the bleachers.

My smile is pretty big too. In Feb 2019, I was still awesome.

Basketball

Basketball season. Kimberly played basketball. I played basketball. I always loved it. I still do. I cant begin to play like I used to but I still love seeing the ball go through the net. Kamdyn has been playing for 5+ years. I coached her first team and every year since with a undefeated season, #1 finishes and some great teams. Until this year. Kamdyn moved up to be coached by others. I still coached form the sideline and the front seat of the car. Kamdyn had a great year. She started most games even though there were like 13 kids on the team. She is always in the right spot and doing as she is coached. She has the best set shot on the team and maybe in the league. She is very focused on the court and I absolutely love to see her play - win or lose. She has made some great friends through basketball.

This was Karcie's first year. I didn't get to be head coach, but an old high school friend, Trey, was gracious enough to let me be his assistant. Karcie is intense and aggressive. She listens intently to her coaches. She tries so hard to do exactly as we asked. She plays very aggressive and wants to win. She is a great teammate. Her team won 2nd place in the year end tournament. Quite an accomplishment from where we started. I cant wait to see how she does next year. I do hope she grows a foot! I hate that we don't have a goal in our driveway so she can practice more. Maybe I need to work on that so I can see the ball go through the net when the fish aren't biting and the sun is setting.

Sunsets

I always wanted a post dedicated to sunsets. Now I have my chance! Expect more. I enjoy everything about a sunset. Their uniqueness, slow development, colors, quietness, high definition, reflections of the day. Everybody has a thing and this may be mine. Pro tip - winter sunsets are the best. Put on your long johns and get outside in the winter time! Pictures are never as good as in person.
