"Spotted" in North Augusta

This weekend, Richard, Kammy, and I went to a Grand Opening for a new Riverfront Property in North Augusta. As we were walking around, a photographer for the Augusta Chronicle stopped us and wanted to take our picture to be in the "Spotted" column online. He says we may make it in to the newspaper, too. I won't hold my breathe for that, but it was kind of neat to see our picture on the website.

Polka Dot Birthday Pictures

Here is Kamdyn with another birthday cake! I think she has decided that she LOVES cake after having eaten 3 entire cakes for her birthday. She is such a mess! When this "photo shoot" was finished, both Kamdyn and Mommy were completely covered in cake. The things we do for our babies!

Pictures with the Bunnies

I scheduled Kamdyn to have her Easter Pictures made at Fitz-Symms with real bunnies. I had seen pictures from previous years and thought they were just adorable. I didn't really think about the fact that Kamdyn might not LOVE the bunnies. I find out quickly, however, when the photographer took the bunnies out of their cages just how much she DIDN'T LOVE the bunnies. They were the most beautiful rabbits that I had ever seen. Kamdyn thought they were fake at first so she kind of entertained the white one. As soon as that bunny moved, Kamdyn was out! She started crying and ran over to me as fast as she could. When I picked her up, she started acting as if she liked the bunny. She said, "dog!" As soon as I started petting the bunny and tried to get her to touch it, she started crying again. So, we put the white bunny up for a while and tried to get Kamdyn to smile for a few more pictures. Then, the photographer set up the tea party scene and tried to get the brown bunny out of his cage. Needless to say, there were NO pictures taken with the brown bunny. Kamdyn jumped out of that chair quicker than the lady could sit the bunny in the other chair. Kamdyn had to have a tea party for one! She was quite content with being alone with her little flower in her hand.

Miss Independent

I feel so horrible that I haven't posted anything in over a MONTH! But, things have been so busy between Kamdyn's birthday, going to St. Lucia, my Daddy being sick, and the end of another school year that I've not had a spare minute to even think much less play on the computer.

I did want to let you all know the many things that Kamdyn is now doing. As if walking all over the place wasn't enough, she is now repeating most anything that anyone says. Yes, we have to be VERY careful of what we say. The other day we were riding in the car to pick up her birthday pictures from Fitz Symms and I almost turned in the wrong driveway. I, not thinking, said, "Oh, shoot!" And, yes, I really said "shoot!" My sweet angel in the back immediately said, "Oh shoot!" Except.....hers sounded a little more like that dirty four little word. OOPS! I couldn't help but laugh. My laugh prompted her to say it over and over again. Needless to say, we are much more careful about everything we say. I'm getting good at spelling out lots of words that I don't want her to repeat! :) Oh the joys!!!

Words she says often include juice, no, Da-Da, Na-Na, ball, no, dog, pop, eye, no, ba-ba(bottle), bye-bye, no, hey, flower, bath(as she runs to the bathtub), no. Yes, I meant to include "no" that many times. She hasn't figured out how to say "yes" quite yet. However, she does shake her head viciously back and forth to answer most any question to which she wants to answer "no." My favorite is when Richard says, "Give Daddy a kiss." Kamdyn shakes her head "no" and runs the other way laughing. It cracks me up, but I think it's starting to hurt Richard's feelings. :( I'm going to try to capture this on video soon!

She also wants to do EVERYTHING herself. She rarely wants to be held. She wants to walk everywhere by herself. She wants to turn the pages of the books that we try to read her by herself. She wants to feed herself. And, the list goes on and on. I guess I failed to mention that she can throw herself in to an all-out-fit in a matter of seconds if she doesn't get to do exactly what she wants.

I must say that we have our work cut out for us! How will we ever teach her all of these rules without "breaking" her independent spirit? She doesn't seem interested in hearing us tell her "no." She continues doing what we tell her not to do unless we remove her from the situation. I'm not exaggerating either. Richard wants to know how I can control all of those 4 year olds, but can't manage to control our independent one year old. :) The verdict is still out on this!

She is so much fun! I never imagined how wonderful all of this could be. She is constantly making me smile with each new thing she discovers, each new word she says, and each new precious face she makes at me. My heart couldn't love her more!

Check back in a couple of days. I will be posting her Easter and birthday pics from Fitz Symms. I also have to post her 9 months pics from Fitz-Symms. I am WAY behind scanning and posting!

Kamdyn's Birthday Party at Na-Na and Pop Pop's

Kamdyn not only had a BIG birthday in Augusta, but she had another BIG birthday party at Na-Na and Pop Pop's (she has decided to call my Dad, Pop Pop, instead of Poppy). Here are some pictures from her other birthday party that was actually held on her birthday while we were in St. Lucia!

First Boat Ride

Kamdyn had many "firsts" this weekend. She had her first birthday as well as her first boat ride. We took the boat down to the Savannah River which is only about 10 minutes from our house. We had such a relaxing afternoon. Kamdyn did GREAT!!! She surprised us yet again! She did fall asleep half-way through the ride though. She also HAD to walk around in the boat and REFUSED to wear her life jacket. Needless to say, we went really slowly!

Happy First Birthday

Kamdyn's First Birthday Party was this past Saturday, March 24th. What a fun time we all had! Kamdyn was a perfect little lady. She didn't cry or fuss not one time!!! As you can see, she had a Polka Dot Party! We had to have her party early since we will be in St. Lucia for her actual birthday. However, Na-Na and Poppy will be having her a family party on her birthday. Lucky her, she gets 2 birthday parties this year!!

Thank you to all of you who made the trip to Augusta to celebrate this special day with us! It meant so much to Richard, Kamdyn, and me. To those of you in Augusta who came, you guys are the best!! I couldn't survive without all of my Augusta Buddies!!! To those of you who couldn't make it, we TOTALLY understand! But, we did miss you!
If any of you have other pictures, please pass them on to me! We don't have any of all of you who were there! :(

How is it possible that our baby girl is already ONE?

Climbing Stairs

Turns out that Kamdyn LOVES climbing stair. Or, she at least loves trying to climb stairs. Thank goodness we don't have any at our house. Baby gates would definitely have to be installed. Now that she is walking everywhere, we have found that she hardly ever gets in to anything that she's not supposed to be in to! We hope this will continue so we don't have to "fully" baby proof the house.
