Poppy

Poppy came and spent the week with me and Kamdyn this past week. He was working here in Augusta. It just do happened that Richard had to be out of town this week, too. So, Poppy came and stayed with us. Kamdyn LOVED it!! It also made things a little easier for me because Poppy could entertain Kamdyn while I was getting some things accomplished. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures while he was here! Most of my pictures are taken on the weekend when my brain isn't on overload from trying to juggle work, Mommy, wifey, etc. So, I apoligize, Poppy! These are some pics of the two of them prior to this week. They will have to do for now!

Turns out that Kamdyn couldn't really help Poppy on his new computer. I, however, spent lots of time trying to help him. He is learning! It's just taking him a little bit of time. I created him some "cheat sheets" to help him each night when he is completing his work. I hope it helps!! God Bless You, Mama!!! :) I love you, Daddy, but it's tough to teach an old dog new tricks!!!

Visits with Grand

Grand came to visit Kamdyn weekend before last and we went down to visit Grand the next weekend. It was good to see her since none of us had seen her since Christmas. Kamdyn, of course, thoroughly enjoyed herself!. She especially enjoyed visiting Grand at her house. Grand has lots of fun stuff to see in her house. Kamdyn wanted to get in to all of it. Kamdyn learned how to turn the light switch on and off while she was there. Thank goodness she can't reach the switches by herself yet because all of the lights in our house would constantly be turning on and off. She tries to get the light switches every time she passes them while we are holding her. She is a mess!!

Computer Baby

We forsee another Uncle Matthew (computer wizard) in the family. Kamdyn really likes our computers. Perhaps she's just trying to figure out what keeps our attention on these crazy things. She sees Richard and me on each of our laptops nightly! Yes, we are Internet Junkies!! She is always trying to get to us so she can bang on the keyboard. She acts like she knows what she is doing. Look at our little grown angel standing up in front of the couch playing on the computer. I can't believe that she is ready to walk! It just doesn't seem like it's time yet.

Visit from Kathy and Brandi

When we go home we are always so rushed. It is always difficult trying to attend our events and find time for everyone to see little Kamdyn. This time, our dear friends, Kathy and Brandi, were able to come by for a visit. They hadn't seen Kamdyn since she was about 8 or 9 weeks old. She was in her colicky stage then! Brandi somehow managed to lull her to sleep with a baby voice that night. I was ready to take Brandi home with me so I could get some crying relief. You never knew when Kamdyn would stop crying. It usually was more than 2-3 hours a night. Enough to make you CRAZY!!! This visit was much better.

Her personality when they visited this time was quite different. She was such a little ham. It took her a little while to warm up to them, but she hardly meets a stranger. She was in love with them before they left. She had such a great time with them. They even got to see her get a bath! It was so great to see both of them! They have been such great friends to my Mom and me over the years. I don't know what we would do without them! We love you, Kathy and Brandi!!! We wish we got to see you more!

Michelle's Baby Shower

Kamdyn got to go to her very first baby shower. It may have been her last, too! She may not be invited to anymore. :) I was running all over the place trying to keep her occupied and trying to keep her from fussing. Of course, everyone there thought she was adorable as she tried desperately to be the center of attention. Needless to say, she entertained everyone! Thank goodness my Mom was there so she could share the load with me.

Michelle is having a boy and is due on March 11th. She looked great and had such a nice shower. I was glad to attend and glad to help. She has been such a big part of my life (friend, maid of honor, baby showers, etc.) We can't wait until Little Warren gets here. Kamdyn is going to have lots of little boyfriends. Hopefully some little girls will be here in the near future. Hint, hint, Betsy/Carter and Shannon/Allison!

These Shoes Are Made for Walking

We finally decided that Kamdyn needed some "real" shoes. Mom and I took her to Stride Rite and had her fitted for her first "real" pair of shoes. Turns out, she has a really wide foot. Who knew they made baby shoes in extra wide? We made the mistake of taking her out of her stroller to let her try her new shoes out. Boy was it an ordeal trying to get her to sit back down in her stroller. Whew....the fit that she threw!!! Have I mentioned frequently that she already has quite a mind of her own? She shows it more and more each day. My little determined sweetie!!!

9 month check-up

Doctor Update

Kamdyn's 9 months appointment was January 2nd. She weighs 19 lbs. 7 1/2 ounces. She is 28 1/2 inches long. Dr. Foushee says that she is doing great! We are now giving her a little bit of table food (i.e. anything that can be mashed with a fork or that dissovles in her mouth rapidly!). Our first experience with Cheerios and Baby Puffs didn't go so well. A lot of gagging was involved. Since then, she will attempt to "gum" cheerios without gagging. She's still not a fan of the Puffs though. She likes plain waffles without the butter and syrup, of course! She did not like mashed potatoes tonight though. More than gagging was involved! YUCK!! We are definitely going to have to work on that though. Potatoes are one of my favorite foods. She really needs to like them! Poor thing also has to deal with the fact that her Mommy doesn't cook and her Da-Da only cooks things that are spicy. What to do??? She may still be eating baby food at the age of 5! :)

Baby Steps and Pat-A-Cake

Kamdyn is SO ready to walk that she can hardly stand it! On Wednesday night she balanced by herself and took 3 steps to me. I was so excited! Of course I was the only one watching so I had to make her do it a few times to make sure that it wasn't just a "fluke." After seeing her do it at least three times I called Richard in to the living room to watch. Then, he got out the video camera and we captured her first little steps. It was so cute! She is way too brave though. When I prop her up against the couch she will take off, (not to me) in whatever direction she wishes to go. I guess she just assumes that someone will be there to catch her when she falls over. I see lots of bumps and bruises in her future!

The other dilemma with her walking is that she is just 9 months old. I think we still need a little time before we have to chase her all over the place! It's bad enough when she is in the walker. I can only imagine how active she will be when she can go wherever she wants without the bulkiness of the walker. I'm sure it will entail a lot of running and not much walking. Watch Out World, Here Comes Kamdyn!!!

This morning Kamdyn and I were playing Pat-A-Cake. I clapped my hands, she clapped her hands, and then she clapped my hand with her hand. She giggled and giggled! Again, I thought this was just one of those fluky "moments." I figured that it was just an accident that she was actually clapping her hands together while I was singing Pat-A-Cake. However, later on tonight I started singing Pat-A-Cake again and to my surprise, she started clapping her hands. I, of course, ran to write down today's date for her baby book. Richard rolled his eyes and sighed. He doesn't quite understand the importance of "documenting" these important moments. He'll thank me one day when he looks back on this blog and her baby book! Her milestones are important and so fun to watch. I wish I could freeze time!! It's going WAY too fast!
